Movement needs to be a bit better when bringing it out of the back and the ball needs to be moved faster.

Hendo and Sterling the standouts.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

Considering our new set-up is meant to be largely centred around high-tempo pressing, why is it that most of the sides we've come up against under Rodgers have been significantly better than us at it? The game is being played in our half and our defence and midfield are under so much pressure. We should be pressing the ball the way they are; hounding them, getting in their faces and causing them to make mistakes. Its worrying.

I'd get Allen on for Spearing to hopefully give us a bit more presence in midfield, and swap Shelvey and Henderson. Shelvey's tackling worries me and he's been a bit wasteful with the ball so I'd prefer him further up. Sterling and Henderson have looked good.

Been a bit scrappy, but I expected that, knowing that Hearts would go right at us.  Sterling has been our main threat and has put himself right in the frame, he has pace to burn is direct and has that confidence that Downing has been lacking.  Borini has led the line well, maybe should of done a touch better with the one off the post but the Hearts keeper narrowed the angle well.  I think Adam has done pretty well.

Shelvey has a lot of potential, I've no doubt that he'll be a decent player for us in the future, but he's been shocking tonight, so bad I'd take him off, push Henderson inside and bring on Downing.

Henderson has been good so far
I agree, we don't get him on the ball enough but when we do he is smart with possession, eager to win it back as well.

Adam and Sterling playing very well.

Once again shows how we need a another forward - urgently.

You must be watching a different game to me. Bar 2 decent runs he's done nothing of note - not one of his corners has connected with a Liverpool player, in defense he simply is a yard too slow. Spearing and Adam = zero creativity in the middle.. Shelvey has hardly been good either.

Agree about Sterling and the striker point though.

Really pisses me off that linesmen get decisions like that wrong. Borini was in, probably ending up 1 on 1 with the keeper in that situation and that touch off the Hearts midfielder wasn't even slight, it was bloody obvious. I understand the officials miss things but that's a joke at this level and could've changed the game.

Sterling really promising though, let's not get too negative about the chance at the end though!

Very scrappy on our part, which is what i was expecting from the line-up in fariness.

Spearing has to be one of the more ineffectual players i've ever seen. Never available for a pass when it matters and offers very little protection to the back four.

Sterling very promising obviously. Henderson has shown some nice touches, still a little too keen on passing it backwards for no reason, needs to get turned on the ball and moving towards goal.

Borini doesn't striker me as the kind of player that's going to do that well ploughing a lone furrow up top. Needs players in and around him.

Not much left to be said about Carra at this stage. Can see him struggling the whole time.

Wtf Spearings been fine

Not for me. Offers very little protection to the back four and his positioning when our centre backs have the ball is awful. He's constantly stood behind players which is making it difficult for us to build from the back.

Got to cut out the sloppy passes and bad decision making, grown more into the game as its gone on after a good start from Hearts.

We played ok, but I think we are resorting to the long ball to often. Often it's because they press high up the pitch and we are not good enough to provide short passing options to our defenders. Sterling was good, but I don't think Henderson is a good option on the right wing. He should play in the middle. Shame about the post as it was a great interception by Sterling.
I would also like Shelvey to stay higher up on the pitch to support Borini better.

That midfield quartet of Shelvey, Spearing, Henderson and Adam has been absolutely shockin. Offer zero protection to the defence and very little goin foward either. Poor Borini has been left to feed off scraps, though he should've buried that chance at the end of the first half.

Carragher is utterly useless now. He can't move on the ball, he can't do anything with it when he's on it and he has no strength at all. Just gets blown off the ball 8 times from 10.

Robbo and Sterling looking very good though. Well done boys.

It's because Sterling didn't cost £20m that's the only reason I can think of of Downing being ahead of him. Yes he needs protecting, but he needs to play more.

I swear if we had a game of Liverpool verses the post... :butt

They look much more hungry for it and we just don't look confident. BR needs to grab the team by the balls and get them to settle down.

Same old story, we create chances and don't tuck them away. Fucking woodwork. Great vision from Sterling to set up Borini. Charlie Adam looks lively in the final 3rd. We need to get Henderson and Shelvey more involved.

I think we have survived the onslaught the second half should be easier now we cannot forget we have a lot of young lads on the field tonight.

Shelvey and Borini need to up their game though both have been poor and i'm not even starting on Carra i along with others can see he's finished.

Still confident of a win though  :wave

Sterling will become something great. He's our number one winger after this performance (not that he had anyone to beat out).

Robinson looks a bit shaky and our right hand side is just slow and boring. The opposite to our left side. Expected Borini to score there.

I like how Adam is playing, our second best player so far.

Shelvey is our weak link in midfield so far.

What take him off and move Adam in to the AM role with Henderson moving into the centre.

Bring Morgan on.

Chance creation has been appalling

Performance average, midfield is so lacking in drive going forward. Sterling playing okay, nothing special though. A few very good pieces of play from him but he's been marked pretty well to be fair to him. Feel quite bad for him for the fact people refuse to play the ball into space for him instead of always to feet.

Need to move the ball quicker as a team. Borini short of those two chances has had nothing to feed off. Should have scored the one that hit the post and he looked devastated after it but the team needs to help him. He's constantly making runs only to see no pass through for him. The centre mids need to spread out more and we need to stop panicking under pressure, some of our players seem to get pressured and think its okay to just pass it anywhere whether its too a liverpool player or not
