Tuchel bemoaning his team's lack of killer instinct with chances is quite funny.  Has he ever watched Sterling play before?  Great movement, great dribbling, great pace, great strength... kicks the ball like his boots are on the wrong feet.
How many attackers have progressed under him anyway?

Did Chelsea only sign Cucurella because Man City wanted him and they weren't sure who else to buy?!  Seems like Chelsea and Man Utd's recruitment departments are all just blindly following us and City.  He's a competent enough defender and can get forward, but he was hardly lighting it up at Brighton to suggest he was worth anywhere near the money Chelsea have spent on him and that's before you consider that Chelsea aren't operating with a blank cheque book any more.  They need goals and if Cucurella's awful attempts at goal from good positions against Leeds is anything to go by, he won't be providing any of them.  Comical stuff.

Right now they are.  I think when the dust settles and they bring in somebody competent to run their recruitment they're going to be left nursing one hell of a hangover from this transfer window.  The unknown is whether being so wasteful will have any long-term ramifications or if the owners just take it on the chin and pour more money in.

As was outlined on an earlier page it's very difficult for Chelsea to breach FFP so the only constraint is sense and that's something Boehly seems short of.

Not a bad deal if he replicates the Barca numbers for a couple of years rather than the sorry state of his latter Arsenal career. It's a gamble, that has to be said. If his goals make the difference between top four and vanishing into the EL doldrums this season he'll be worth the transfer fee for sure. Not sure about how much they'll pay him either way.

Didn't Arsenal give him away for free?, what is it these days with teams paying way over the odds for veteran strikers?, genuinely no logic to it.

Going to be interesting to see what Swiss Ramble posts the next time Chelsea post their financials if they buy Gordon, Fofana and Aubameyang

I don't even think they do it to the extent Chelsea fans do. It extends right down to the executive level with them: the 180 Chelsea fans have done on Marina Granovskaia in a few weeks for instance is something

What's happening with Havertz? This guy was suppose to be incredible. Wasn't the fee in the region of £100 million? I remember us being priced out of a move.

I hardly watch Chelsea games so not quite sure why he hasn't progressed there. System? Playing out of position?

Also, I look through their team and still this Klopp and Co could get an absolute tune out of some of the players they are throwing under the bus. Pulisic especially.

Havertz would definitely have been much more successful under Klopp. Werner too, but Havertz especially could've been a great succession plan for Firmino aging. I feel like Chelsea sometimes just buy players so that we don't get them. Think those aforementioned two are recent examples, but they've done it years - Salah back when we first wanted to buy him in Jan 2014 is another classic example.

Delighted to see the original financial dopers all over the show right now.

Tuchel will be quickly under pressure there if they don't sort themselves out. Like with Tory Boy in 2020 you can't spend what he's spent there this summer and not get the results as a manager.

It doesn't look like the players have been playing for him for a while.

It's weird that so many 'good' players have floundered as soon as they go to Chelsea, United etc.  Has Klopp ever had a player of decent rep fail here? The only ones I can think of are due to injury as opposed to performances.

Gvardiol is a Liverpool supporter and talked about eventually signing for Liverpool after arriving in Leipzig. (Well, he did go to the right club to try to get the Anfield move).

Hopefully he doesn't go to Chelsea.

Yeah but Tuchel does have a point. They have three - 3! - players out injured.

That CL win aside I thought he'd do better.  He inherited a really strong squad and has been heavily backed since but not much to show for it.

Boehly seems to be the polar opposite to FSG in the transfer market.  While it feels like FSG agonise over every transfer - arguably correctly with the amounts involved - Boehly is very impulsive.  I guess Boehly's approach is fine if you're willing and able to keep throwing money in with a relatively low hit rate on transfers.
