This guy is whooshing, right?

The number of documentaries that show how the pyramids were likely constructed are so numerous that to even challenge the basic concept is ridiculous.

I'm just going off memory of course, but if we're just talking about Egyptian pyramids, it's layers of blocks laid on top of one another, with the chambers and shafts shaped into the blocks as they're set.  The whole thing is held together by gravity and supported by the massive base.  For all their size, it is very straightforward.

Ancient civilisations built them because if you wanted to build big that's all their technology allowed for - sliding blocks into place and stacking them on top of one another. There are no doubt details, but it's not like you're constructing a huge, self supporting tower, with complicated interiors and delicate carvings, like with the Anglican Cathedral.

20 years might seem a bit short I'll admit, but if conditions are right with no setbacks and good planning I imagine it is quite possible for a King, with an endless supply of workers and money, to get it done.  If there's a bad harvest or a drought then maybe it stretches to 30 years.

According to the books I've read, their beliefs share out the afterlife to those that were involved, so in addition to the pay and food (with rations being a form of payment back then), the workers also get a piece of what the pharoah's getting as a result of this. And relating to this, the famed Greek sculptors were supposedly inspired by the craft of Egyptian stonemasony, so there shouldn't be much surprise over the finery of Egyptian stonework if there is none over Greek stonework.

It just shows there a lot of anomalies in regards to the Pyramids and beyond.

Great.

What's his name? I'm assuming he's well known. Anyone that solved the mystery of how the Great Pyramid was built would be pretty well known...

It's not a mystery though mate, you've been literally inundated with links explaining how it was done. I practically gave you a fucking GAANT chart ;D

to be honest you were pretty emphatic in stressing ANY architect.

How about Dover Castle then? Or Chichen Itza. The Collusium? Or Petra? All equally impressive and they didn't have JCBs to help.
In fairness, we're talking thousands of years between those. And definitely not as impressive as the Great Pyramid.

You're telling me that the Great Pyramid only took twice as long as Dover Castle, using waaaaaaay bigger blocks, and thousands of years beforehand?

You guys are telling me to stop, but your not getting the point!!!

I revived this thread last Thursday, and it's been nearly a week and we are still debating.

From all the replies I've seen we are still nowhere closer.

Hence to say, if they made a different conspiracy point on the SAME podcast that is also as perplexing, then we aren't going to find a definitive answer about the pyramids either.

Just like Stonehenge or what was the guy who discovered milk doing to with the cows genitals, there will always be anomalies.

And yes that is contradictory in me reviving this 2007 thread, but all I'm saying is there are MANY unanswered questions in the world.

Huh. We have relatively recent common ancestors to modern primates. We did not 'evolve from any form of monkey*', in just the same way as you are not the offspring of your cousins (or, maybe I'm being overly generous).

You are confusing 'I don't know' with 'nobody knows'. There are in fact quite a few people who know quite a lot about how the pyramids were build. If you'd bother to even just look at wikipedia, you might learn a bit about it too.

Chris Jericho left in April, but I get your point. Like I said in this thread before, I don't go to WWE for that information.

A celebrity that happened to be a WWE star made a point, and I did a Rawk search for a thread on pyramids to get a quickfire answer on his theory. Yet a week later here we are.

I should of just gone to Ask, Rawk Replies. But I have been on Google too for experts analysis.

Mate, we didn't evolve from modern monkeys, though we share a common ancestor, which was probably some kind of monkey itself, or primate, at any rate. From that common ancestor, we evolved. The various different species of monkeys and apes that exist today also evolved, they just took a different evolutionary path to us. Evolution doesn't always work in a strictly linear fashion (ie from thicker creatures like monkeys to more intelligent species such as ourselves), hence the variety in primate species we see today.

I'm probably explaining it poorly, so here's a picture that should help a bit:
