I think that was what Klopp meant with "Heavy Metal Football".

There was no real method to the madness, we just attacked them mercilessly, wave upon wave, with abandon. It was belief, armed with a bludgeon and other crude instruments- the kitchen sink, guitar etc- wielded with power and speed instead of skill alone.
To add to the "Heavy Metal" vibe, the noise from the Kop was deafening and could drive the opposition insane.
We had broken the barrier Klopp had struggled to instill in his players until now- "We decide when we're tired".

It's like Tuchel said, pharaphrased- "there was nothing you can do, when the believe is this high. You can't play against that. Liverpool had no more shape or organization when their 2nd(?) goal went in."

At certain points in the game, Lovren was bombing down the wing, swinging in crosses! ;D
One of those, a glorious cross straight out of Macca's book, which Origi unfortunately caught with his shoulder instead of his head. Would've been goal if he connected. He was 4 yards away from the goal.

I'm not sure I'd be entirely happy if my manager came out with that, though. You can adapt, adjust, counter and use our emotions and lack of organisation against us. I think Tuchel froze, a little.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

Thursday night was a time machine, we were in '65..'77..'92..'05 ..now 2106...all those nights,  Inter, St.Etienne ,Auxerre , Chelsea...and many more are magical, don't waste time thinking which is the best, its all in the context of the times and the person...just be gratefull when the planets align you are around to experience them.

I will say this though , those nights which from a common perspective are the major historic moments..Inter , St.Etienne etc ...Thursday..we seem roughly to be on a 12/15 year cycle..thats how special they are.

The media ( and lets face it, us) tend to big up most European nights at Anfield and they are often not that special , the truth is the really magical ones are rare...but I tell you this, Thursday was the real deal.

If he won, Klopp would get a great slab of the credit; if he lost, his inferiority would be manifest. He talked about his players being inhibited by the return of Klopp in the first leg but perhaps it was Tuchel who was inhibited - after all, these things transmit subliminally. Klopp on the other hand has an aura of confidence without ego around him that - am I being fanciful? I don't think so - has echoes of some of our great managers of the past.

He's a young manager mate. He'll learn the intracacies of management.
He's already well ahead of his peers and is one of the world's very best. You just have to look at Dortmund's recent form under him:

L is us of course.
Liverpooled at L4 ;D

Prolly only Barca(and mayhap Bayern) can give you that- not even Emery or Simeone can; and to be honest- had they scored one more- I think that run would've continued. I don't think any set of fans would read much into that, cause he just wins and wins and wins.

Klopp has ignited Anfield tonight.
Loved his coolness when the last one went in.
He just soaked it up. He's got this shit.
We're going places with him - we're going where fearless go.
i think some of it might be the fact that we just beat his ex
i can't remember what he exactly said about celebrations against his ex beside that it doesn't matter or whatever but maybe there was a touch of it there in the very end

Haha. Perfect comparison. I'm sure wide players love him and hate him at the same time. He leaves lots of space behind him but you've always got to be fully aware where he is because he never stops down that left side.

Every club has its nutters. Seemingly, BVB have had a problem for some time with Neo-Nazis infiltrating their fanbase - the way the dealt with it was to make this video taking the p*ss

  • TRUTH. JUSTICE. ACCOUNTABILITY.
Still buzzing. Been a boss couple of days in and around the Liverpool country. So many emotions, espeically as the game was followed by the 27th anniversary of Hillsborough and the last memorial service to take place at Anfield.

Why would you choose to support any other team? Many of us had a 50/50 chance of becoming Evertonians, especially growing up in mixed households. Thank fuck for the 1974 FA Cup final! My memory is very hazy, but think that was game that made me a Red. First game I really remember sitting down and watching in its entirety.

Still can't quite get my head around the Dortmund game yet. Or my head is still in the clouds. Or both. Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang & (Rolls) Reus all scored at Anfield and yet, yet...we still managed to win and go through. We beat a team with that front three! Fuck! They are a really top team. They'll probably make it to the latter rounds of the CL next season. That's the measure of that victory on Thursday.

Not sure how we did it. But we did.

There's something intangible about Anfield under the lights. It goes beyond words. It's a force of nature. It just is. It's there. We all feel it but it defies a concrete definition. Once you've felt it, though, it never leaves you. You try and explain it later. Give it a name. Atmosphere, the commentators waffle...

"There's is a light that never goes out."

"We climbed the hill in our own way."

"You'll Never Walk Alone."

Think those banners/songs get as close to that ineffable feeling as it is possible to do so.

Also, even if there wasn't a CL qualification place at stake, I'd love to see the Reds lifting that big, beautiful trophy. Win the trophy, think about the benefits afterwards. As has been pointed out numerous times, there is no trophy for finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th. They give you that big fucker for winning the Uefa Cup though.  :champ

I think we'd become the most successful team in the UEFA Cup/Europa if we were to win it this season with 4 wins.  I think we're stuck on three with a few teams including Seville.

They have four, having won all four finals they've been in. We have three and have won all of our finals as well. Juventus and Inter have three as well, but have both lost a final.

Seville have 4 we have 3, with due respect to Shaktar and Villareal, that makes a Seville/Liverpool final the ideal one. Neither have ever lost a final.

Honestly, I still can't believe it.  We have been so lucky with managers. Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish, Houllier,  Rafa, Klopp.  Even some of the less successful managers have had class. Rodgers didn't quite make it, but a decent chap who just lost his way a bit. (compare to Atkinson, Fergie)  I don't connect too much with players any more, but I still fall in love with managers.

One the Dortmund supporters in the opposition supporter's new pre-match thread alluded to this being a possible shortcoming of Tuchel. He hasn't learned to take risks and really change things up in big matches. He plays his starters and relies on them to win it, because he won't make risky subs or change systems. I think Tuchel will probably learn to do this as he gains confidence in his role as a manager of a big club. Seems like a very good coach overall, but the occasion got him this time.

I just watched it a second time and it just doesn't feel the same as watching it live....especially when you know what's coming next!
But I dunno watching it again it does feel a lot more pedestrian. The overall feeling you get from the 2nd half is of BVB sitting back and not really looking to attack allowing us to attack them. So we do....we attack them as best we can....which as you say seems a bit rough and ready...no real plan etc.
But then when you see the control that we have on the game, especially with Allen and Lucas coming on you realise that it's not just raw passion driving us on out there....it's belief...coupled with a hunger....AND football skill and control.
There wasn't much of us lumping the ball forward at all. All our play is on the ground and has a measured build-up.

I also noticed Lovren on the right wing at times near their penalty area trying to cross it in....what was he doing up there??? Klopp's command?? And who would have covered his position at CB when he was up there??
That was the most shocking discovery when watching on replay haha

Only about 30 percent of them held it up in the end. A large section of the right handside (looking from the Kop) but not many of the middle

Again, that's only natural. We can't expect every Dortmund fan to buy into the love-in just because Klopp is now our manager. Some of them were probably sick of everyone going on about it.

True that. I'd probably be sick of the whole love in if I was a Dortmund fan.
