My Ma met my future stepdad in 1984, first time we went to his house, it was a bit creepy, as he'd never modernised it, was all 60 watt bulbs and old furniture. Once they got engaged, I was on the dole, so I spent all summer decorating the house, turned it from an old dark Victorian place into a bright modern looking house. It was built in 1895, 3 bed Victorian. The stairs go straight up and there's a bedroom in front, then you turn to the right and do a u turn, up about 4 stairs then theres a big double bedroom on the left and a huge bedroom in front, width of the house. I never had an issue with the front and back rooms, but the middle creeped me out, when you walked in, you could just feel something odd, so when our kid said he wanted that one, I was fine with it, even though I got the smaller room.
Over the next couple of years, he's say he'd seen stuff in the room, but never say what - anyway, he moved out, moved to Bournemouth and I took the bigger room. Was at my then g/f house one night watching Most Haunted and she said "you've got a ghost in your bedroom, I've seen it". I was like, yeah ok, describe it then. So she says middle aged woman, old fashioned clothes, greying hair in a pony tail. Our kid didn't like my ex and never spoke to her, so they won't have discussed this, but I text him and said "describe the ghost in the house" and he gave exactly the same description.
We'd asked my stepdad before if he'd ever seen/felt anything he'd always said no. Roll forward about 15 years and I'm chatting with him about what the ex had said and he just matter of fact goes "oh my Mum and Dad used to take lodgers in when we were kids, there was a couple wholived here, she was in her 40's and she died in that room". He's not a piss taker or a joker, he's deadly serious and he's not lying.
My Mum died in Southport hospital in 2007. Day of the funeral, our kid is up from Bournemouth, with his kids, they were staying in the house and he walks upstairs, Paisley was 4 or 5 and she's in my Ma's old room chatting away happily "who you talking to?", Pais turns and says, just to nanny, turns back and says, oh she's gone now. About an hour later our kid calls me upstairs, he's there with his missus and cousin, asks me do I feel anything, I didn't, but they said they'll all felt an evil presence at the top of the stairs/door to the middle room.
