New Stadium Name
« on: February 7, 2005, 12:11:21 pm »
I see Parry has opened his eyes to stadium sponsorship.
Personally if we can pull £100mil from a sponsor, I would be more than happy.

It's with this being considered that I would nominate we approach Stanley Bookmakers.
I cant see the natives being upset with the new place being named "Stanley Park"

Any better ideas ?

Wouldn't bet on it  ;)
If Kenny Dalglish had simply played football for Liverpool he would be an Anfield hero. However, the fact that he managed the club to even greater success guarantees him the status of a legend.

Well I think we'd rarely do better than to invite London Rubber Company to be our sponsors.  "Hot Rod" and "Inspirational" would do very well for player profiles, whilst "Beyond Seven" would be very attractive for a consecutive run of results.

I think it should still be called anfield lose the name lose the magic don't care how much money selling the naming rights generates some things are worth more than money OUR!  stadium is one of those things.
We have never been sell outs and shouldn't start now leave that to the souless london clubs!!!

not arsed what its called. It wont be Anfield so whats the point in pretending it is. Theres no 'magic' there now anyway, accept on special occasions. And I'm sure the new bowl will be just as loud on those occasions.

Even if we get loads of money for the naming rights theres no guarantee the money will bring success. Obviously if the money was spent well and we won the title then yeah it'll have been a good idea but the way things have gone for the last 10 years or so I'd have to see it before i believe it.
However I do believe we have the right man for the job in Benitez and if he were to win the league next season i think we should name the stadium after him.(lol)
As long as there's a KOP in the new stadium I'll be happy enough!!

I'd be more than happy with that
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
Walk on.....

As it's in Anfield and as it's on Anfield Road and as it's virtually merged as one with the old site (to become Anfield Plaza) then how about 'Anfield'.

I hope Parry won't sell name of stadium. For me it's more important than £100mil. I suggest merely Anfield Stadium.

just think it's too sentimental. it won't be Anfield and new anfield sounds a bit pants, and it's going to be in Stanley Park, just makes sense is all.

I don't mind either way, so long as it's not shit and has something to do with Liverpool.

I guess I prefer us to make new history rather than try and live off it. :)

This is Stanley

This got me thinking for quite a while.

Doesn't sound as good as 'This is Anfield' but Anfield was famous and intimidating because the crowd was mad, the noise was legendary, the supporters first class.

I can't see why 'This is Stanley' won't be good if the same atmosphere can be recreated or amplified at the new place.

Still... read it a few times, you get the picture. :-\

This is Anfield,
This is Stanley
This is Stanley
This is Stanley.

Hmm...
Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released

If Rick Parry wants to pull in sponsorship cash by using the new ground, he could sell the names of one or two of the stands to a sponsor.  He shouln't sell the name of the ground.  It should be called Anfield.

I dont want to see a new stadium because there is nothing wrong with the present one I dont think and it would be good if they done some redevelopment on that and that way they can save millions and still have a perfectly good ground. As for this ground share shit, I think we are fine with a ground of our own, plus what colour would the ground be? Half red, half blue?
