A Question of Sport
« on: September 26, 2011, 04:06:15 pm »
Not as good as it used to be in my opinion, but I do still watch it and it has it's moments. Don't like the fact they have non sport 'celebrities' on the panel though and the captain's challenges are generally a bit shit!

Anyway, it's on BBC1 10.35 p.m. tonight with our very own Charlie Adam!

That woman ruins it.

Sue what's her name...she's so bloody bland and insipid it's silly.

Get a presenter with some gravitas or personality and it might be worth watching again.

Yeah she is shit and I am not sure about the non-sporting "celebrities" but you can see the marketing men wanting to appeal to a wider audience etc.

No where near as good as it used to be. Agreed I enjoyed it when McCoist and Parrott where on it, seemed genuine banter between the two.

The Dawson and Tuffnell combination is terrible. They have to dress them in costumes to try and get the same wit, compared to M+P who's personality would be entertaining alone.

Also one final thing, the observation round, can't stand it!

Used to be good, needs a whole revamp!

Think it's been garbage, since going down the 'entertaining lads' route, all them years back. Can't quite remember when it was, might have been McCoist and Dawson. The formula was spot on and they've just messed the rounds about too much, especially when they have those kind of rounds like the one tonight, when they were catching the ball.

Don't quite get the need for the change, if they want a comedy sports quiz, just bring back They Think It's All Over.

I don't mind the show, it's fairly inoffensive and a bit dull but I enjoy it still.  Anyway, seeing Sue Barker is being replaced by Alex Scott has set the gammons off.

Have barely watched it in years but, when I have recently, it's been shit.

Yeah, QoS was still good when McCoist/Parrott were captains, then it tried too hard copying They Think It's All Over/A League Of Their Own, when QoS was never that type of show.

The shows heyday was Beaumont/Hughes era but i'm a bit too young to remember that era, but Beaumont/Botham era was great, QoS was one of those quizzes you could take part in at home, what happened next round, was the highlight of the show, when the teams used to come up with creative ways of answering what happened, it turned to shit after McCoist/Parrott era.

The charm of the show was seeing sports stars in a different environment, out of their comfort zone.

Dawson/Tufnell were fine for a while, but they soon made the rounds more aimed at being funny than being a quiz that people could join in at home. That's not what you want from Question of Sport. You want a good quiz, and a decent laugh along the way with Sports people that you normally don't see much of away from sport. They basically became a budget League of their Own, which itself was failing at the time.

Bland is what the host needed to be really. She was just there to ask questions and to leave any comedy to the captains/team members.
