He was shit 90% of the time, but 10% of the time he was absolute gold.

As for his facial features, he looks like Ivan Dragov after Rocky finished with him.

Thats why immediately at the end of Rafa's first full season he got shut of the .............sorry its an appreciation thread, as you were.

He still looked a hell of a lot more accomplished under Rafa then he did under Ged, which was the point I was trying to make.

He excelled himself in CL games but continued to embarrass himself in PL games imho mate. I know he was a favourite of some, but for me he's just another indication why we continued not to win the league year on year. And I find that really hard to stomach Rossi mate.

Fair enough. I'll always have a soft spot for old Igor though.

He was a cult hero old Igor, although not always for the right reasons. I just remember the ironic cheers whenever he was entering the fray. Still had a soft spot for him though for some reason.

He also lays claim to being the single only Liverpool player whose man tool I have been fortunate enough to lay eyeballs upon:

Remember once at the match there was some sort of stoppage and as my eyes wondered from the pitch the lad next to me, who I hadnt heard a peep out of all game, went "You Raaaang?" in the style of Lurch from the Addams family just as I clapped eyes on Igor shambling from the dugout to warm up  :) ... Ah well maybe you had to be there, or Im just easily pleased!

Think I remember reading an interview with Carra where he said he didnt have a single conversation with him in his years at the club! and said whenever he saw him he was always on the phone...

I will always remember Igor suddenly deciding to storm upfield on one of his runs, just as he passed the bench, and Thommo yelling after him "IIIIGGGGOOOOOOORRRRRR, NNNNNNOOOOOOO!" like he was scalding a naughty dog.

Miss him.
Ha ha that's really funny. Apart from the bit about Thommo torturing puppies with boiling water ;)

A funny one - not a criticism. Does any one remember the Villa home game in 04/05 when he had the ball at his feet and a villa player ran past and took it off him as if he wasn't there. He didn't even react, just looked vacant as the Villa player with the ball disappeared into the Anfield sunset.

Another player who was not very good, or of the top class quality for this club but Rafa got the best out of. Him and Traore have CL medals, and not just from sitting on the bench, they played key roles.
Rafa Benitez: "I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager."

Two nil down, four two up, Igor Biscan wrapped it up, and he didn’t know what to do when he scored the goal. Igor Biscan our hero!

I hadn't realised that Biscan made nearly 120 appearances in his 5 years with us - a lot more than I thought he did.

He never moaned at not getting regular 1st team action - or when he did it was at right back, left back, right-mid, left-mid, up front, or even doing well at centre-back for a while.

Hope he's back for the 10 year Istanbul reunion thing in May - he was superb in the 05' CL run; especially vs Deportivo, Leverkusen, Juve, and Chelsea in getting us to the Final.

Good luck to Biscan in his coaching career too - had a good start with Croatian club Rudeš, then Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana, back to Croatia at HNK Rijeka, and now doing well managing the Croatian U21 national side.

Anyone remember Spurs away in the League Cup when we played a young side. Igor was playing too and late on slid into the advertising boards at quite a pace, hitting his head against them. He was off for a couple of minutes then wandered back on looking even more dazed than usual. Whwn we scored the winning penalty and all the young lads came charging down the other end towards us Igor could be seen ambling around rhe centre circle like he was just shuffling down to the shops in his slippers.

Definite cult hero, those European exploits redeemed him completely in my eyes.

Always will remember Fulham and Deportivo away

I remember all the talk of big clubs wanting him. About the time we signed him Croatia played Scotland in a World Cup qualifier on Channel 5. With great excitement I watched  as 'Igor' came off the bench and almost scored with a blinding overhead kick. I was very excited with what I'd seen. It then turned out that the commentators had got him mixed up with a different Croatian sub and he'd come on for a few minutes at the end but not really done anything. All in all, bit of a wasted scouting report looking back. :D

Damn hahaha !! I admit i got excited at the thought of us getting Igor before the likes of Juventus etc.. Next time leave the scouting mission to the pro's eh.
He'll win the league in the next 3 years. Quote me on that.
Quote me on this, but come next season he'll be great for us. Just needs to remove the walking headless chicken next to him

Brilliant, but what's missing is the Fulham goal celebration, where he looks absolutely bewildered that he's scored such a stormer.

Or maybe he just always looked that way.
quite...everytime the camera was on him he had this stan laurel expression on his face,he always looked like he just got up outa bed, priceless!

some story did the rounds on one website. it said igor and whoever he roomed with were away on pre season. his team mate woke up to see if he wanted to head down for breakfast, igor stayed put

said team mate however decided he wanted nothing when he saw the buffet and headed back up only to see igor sweating profusely after a furious wank. said there was man juice everywhere
