Heskey doesn't batter defences in England though, he goes on his arse.
He's looked OK for England because continental refs will blow as soon as he's down.
"Heskey has won a free kick".

Kuyt does alot of work for us, Heskey just stands on the edge of the area and falls on his arse.
He occasionally drifts over to the left hand side when he isn't seeing the ball and gets in the way of other players.

He's getting rave reviews at Wigan because there you are allowed 1 good game in every 4 or 5.  Here you have to be top quality for near enough every single game.  Heskey doesn't have the level of consistancy required for a top 4 team.

I don't want Heskey coming to Liverpool because we already have enough strikers. What we just need is a non-injury-prone right-back or a world-class winger or something.

Arbeloa's hardly injury-prone.

think he's referring to degen - at least carra is a competent RB if needed

also, he has a 'back injury' today - wonder if that has anything to do with his comments yesterday?

Don't think he'd come over to be honest. Been playing decently enough for England and forged a partnership of sorts with Rooney, would want to feature in the next world cup; why go to a big-four club if it means sitting on the bench most of the time. If he wants to play at the next WC with England he'll stay with Wigan.

He may well score many more now that he has linked with Houllier. With Young behind him or on the flanks delivering crosses, he will score more.  His work for the first goal today was excellent too.

I wouldn't mind him on our bench to be honest. Honestly this current rich form will vanish but worth having around. Will be interesting to see how Villa shape up this year, especially whether he plays on a regular basis.

Yeah, but we all know that heskey has glass ankles.

Give him another game or two, and he'll be out for three weeks with ankle ligament damage, as per an awfull lot of the time he spent at Liverpool.

He's scored in back-to-back competitive club appearances for the first time since April 2008.

Exactly, think this sums him up more.

Vastly, vastly overrated player despite all the stick he gets. Could've been really good... unfortunately he's shite.

I think that that's a little bit harsh.

He's not shite, but he's not great either. A bit of a journeyman.

He'll always do someone a job. Not nessessarily at the top end of the game . He'll never be prolific but will always intermittantly score goals.

Read that GH, naturally, had to mention that he had backed Heskey. Wonder how long it will last this time for Heskey?

Pleased for him and Ged.  Also, his wife is sizzling.

And this is funny because it's blunt and true:

Such as when GH himself one week said Heskey was a threat, then the next week he played Pongolle as a target man, Heskey was on the wing I think, because GH wanted a threat up front. I bet that did his confidence a world of good. And I bet this time will be different. In a not so distant future, Villa will be great, or some of the players will be superstars. Heskey perhaps?

What I thought was interesting was GH said one of Villa's goals was a Liverpool goal. Warnock crossing to Emile!

I wonder how long before Mr Owen joins the ranks. Good luck to Emile anyway, he does not have much time left playing at this level.

That was a monstrous effort he put in there to create the goal for Albrighton; made a right tit out of Sebastien Bassong there.  Perhaps Hutton should have done better at the back post?

"Emile Heskey is set to make his 500th Premier League appearance - becoming only the sixth player to reach this milestone"

Well in Emile, had a brilliant first full season with us, a monster. Unfortunately he went fro Godzilla to Godzuki. One of the best battering rams (meant in a nice way) in football, great at what he did.
