Boys Of The Old Brigade

Oh father why are you so sad,
Your face so pale and fraught,
When all us reds are proud and glad
Of the team that we support.
Oh son I see in memory?s view
Days of long ago you see,
When we cheered and sang
And from the Kop there rang,
Songs of Liverpool FC.

Chorus
Where are the lads who stood with me
At Milan and Etienne ?
Oh it grieves me that I will never see
The Spion Kop again.

From Cantril Farm the call to arms
Was heard by one and all,
And from Garston came brave young men
To answer Shankly?s call.
I think of them at St Etienne
Who made the rafters shake,
And in 65, they brought the Kop alive
And made poor Inter quake.

Chorus..

And so my son I?ve told you why
On this dark day I sigh,
As I recall great players all
From the glory days gone by.
Who played before the greatest fans
Their singing never stopped,
Oh they sang and cheered and Liverpool revered
On the mighty Spion Kop.

Chorus..

The White Album - the beatles. Collossus that it is. I love it. No commercialised shit you get with like oasis - as much as I love them - this stuff is honest, not overproduced, extreamly well produced infact, its kind of raw honest music and its fucking class. I wish I was around to see it happening.

I saw them out of choice!   ;D

It was probably someone like Carter USM or Curve or even Ride with those other names on the bill. Neds Atomic Dustbin perhaps?

No, my best guess is Buffalo Tom... they never did make it did they?

I'll have to confess to being just a tad retro at the moment here... basically because there's so much manufactured shite out there at the moment that I've been forced into my LP and EP hole.

Pop Will Eat Itself... marvellous stuff.

Other bands then... Charlatans, Hurricane #1 (Andy Bell from Ride), Sisters of Mercy (everyone should have a dark side), New Order (Ibiza 1988 kind of corrupted me there), Jesus and Mary Chain (big time, but wasn't around in Liverpool for their greater glories), Chapterhouse (I had a shoe gazing faze too), Cure (OK and a gothic phase), Suede, Ash (there was a flicker of something good in 1997 or thereabouts), Manic Street Preachers (was there for their 1990 rise to fame and "4 real" shinnanigans), The Real People (total scalls), Weddoes (mentioned them already), Van Morrison, Pixies (and a bit of Sugar), Northside, Roses, Inspirals, Mondays, Farm (hard not to get wrapped up it all that at the time really), Doors / Pink Floyd ('cos you couldn't skin up in silence now could you?), Curve (cos Toni Halliday was / is lush) oh and Lush themselves, Janes Addiction were rambling for a time, Paris Angels (for your one hit wonder), I won't mention Thousand Yard Stare (MichaelA will ask me to look in the mirror again), U2 (preferably Boy or War as Bono's best mullet years), Simple Minds ('cos there is a bridge between New Romantics and Stadium Rock somewhere), Propaganda (if only for the RAC rally tune - Duel)... and that concludes Barrettski's musical Tuesday wankathon.

But today's CD is Ride and the song for today is Time Machine... closely followed by the Charley Twins and Overising.
