The "One-nil down, two-one up" was brilliant at Highbury this season!

"When MO scores  a goal..." has been great during Europeon matches as well.

:)
Lets fucking create an atmosphere instead of complaining about it.

How about "Michael Owen, Michael Owen" to the tune of "Champione, Champione"??

This is simple and effective.

I think that half the problem at Anfield is that the number of non-regulars (like me) and daytrippers there for the 'atmosphere' do not know all the words to the songs. For me, I don't hear them often enough to join in; for the daytrippers, they will never know. (I realise the daytripper accusation is going to be levelled at me, but I 'daytrip' from Edinburgh).

Basically, if the song is simple, people can join in with confidence. I have usually been sat in the Lower Cemetery this season, and barring the Roma game, and to a lesser extent the Bayer game, the atmosphere was poor. There are a few songs that everyone sings, besides the slow Liverpool chant, YNWA, and 'Allez, Allez', there is the JAR song, sung because it is easy to learn, catchy, and people know it.

Anfield will have to 'dumb down' to create a noisy atmosphere!

Seriously though, the lllliiiiivvvveeeerrpppooolll chant is simple but effective; the noise is relentless, drowning out the opposition, and is always audible, even at away games. We need more stuff along those lines - the long tribute songs are great, and part of the Kop heritage, but we also need simple stuff for simple times.

I have to agree with Michael, the most effective chants are the relentless ones - the best one in recent years is that West Brom 'Boing Boing' one. It just fills the ground with noise like the Liiiiiiiverrrpooool one.

Aye RichieFan.Nice point about the WBA chant...

The Boing,Boing chant from the Baggies creates a good atmosphere at the Hawthorns as my mates who support that club will testify!

Walsall FC aka the red and white Saddlers. The innovators as well as the first sports team in England/UK, to sell the Chicken Balti Pie:

With a soft spot for the redmen of Liverpool since the League Cup Semi Final 1984. RIP to the 39 in Brussels and of course the 96.

So, whats your point Tom? Do you want a catchy tune that everyone can sing, or not? If you come up with the words, I know that tune back to front...

I've always felt that the current Owen song could sound a bit unintentionally sarcastic in the wrong circumstances...

I still like it, but I agree with the above point that it is somehow not as powerful or resounding as other personal tributes. Too much 'tune' and not enough of a *BOOM* statement, if that makes any sense!

Michael Owen scores our goals ee aye ee aye o
Michael Owen scores our goals ee aye ee aye o
With a volley here, a header there,
Here a goal there a goal,
Everywhere its goals goals,
Michael Owen scores our goals, ee aye ee aye o!

Its not 'the wheels on the bus', but it might just work.

Or have I heard this somewhere before..?

How about changing the old Toshack song to:

Glory, glory
Michael Owen's always scoring
Can you hear the Kopite's roaring?
Michael is our King...
You're my wife now
