Barcelona vs. Liverpool
« on: January 4, 2002, 04:34:34 am »
I have a question over the Barca game.

As I understand it Lonsdale travel will provide guaranteed match ticket for the game if I book through them, however they want £199 + plus match ticket for a day trip.

A travel company have offered me a two night stay in Barca, all flights and transfers for £153.  OK, I'll have to go from Gatwick but I dont care.

Obviously the second option looks much better but I don't get the match ticket.  How difficult will it be to get tickets through the ETC?  Should I go through Lonsdale to make sure I get one?  Any advice greatly received.

BTW if anyone wants details on the two night package let me know.

A post some weeks ago suggested that applications received by the club already exceed supply. We got 3200 last time but with the 5% rule we should get more like 4800.

You will easily find a ticket outside the ground from a tout for just a little over face value if your club application falls through.

Yeah but Barca are pricks tho! That 5% rule is a UEFA rule isnt it therefore we should have had it last year but we didnt ; their whole ground is a "season-ticket for every match" kind of affair so i think they pleaded that to UEFA who didnt want to anger "one of the biggest clubs in the world" (how many European cups have they won????).
I also heard talk that we will have even less than last years match and apparently the majority of the tickets have been given to Lonsdales (who are now the official distributor instead of Barnes i thinks) to sort out.

If you dont get a ticket from the club then, as roger says, you WILL get a ticket from touts around the Ramblas in the day (and as theyre usually just season ticket holders who dont want to go then they, again as roger said, rip you off too badly if at all!).  At least this was the case last year; maybe a few more of them will turn up wanting revenge (oh yeah, it was 95,000 last year too i guess  ::)).

Sorry if this has been a bit jumbled coz me brain hurts due to writing an essay on pre-Roman Spain, but i hope there is something to help you in the Graeme.

Personally im going with Lonsdales coz im a bit of a lazy twat and cant be arsed doing anything myself (plus i have a studey loan , well, what else is it meant to be spent on ?? ;) ).

LUke, the 5% rule applies for the CL and not the UEFA cup.

COuld have guessed that UEFA  :wanker: would stick up for the mighty Barcelona with their ONE European Cup, against the minnows Liverpool with our   FOUR European Cups.

But even if the 5% rule only applies now, surely Barca wont be able to change their season ticket rule thingy?!

From a friend of a friend - I've heard that there's no way it'll be a sell-out and it should be dead easy to get tickets over there.  I reckon if you don't go in with your colours on full show it should be fine.
I'm staying in Las Ramblas Oriente (on the advice of a Manc - so could be exactly the worst place) and looking to buy once I get there.
3500 - wasn't even worth trying the offical route - and I've not updated last years ETC card yet and the club has suspended all changes so I had no choice anyway.
Is anyone else making their own way - and where are people staying?

They dont really have such a thing as a "sell-out" - the way that they operate is on a season ticket for everything kinda thing, therefore no tickets should be available for a legitimate purchase.  However it should be pretty easy to find one of the season ticket ("socios") holders who arent going, and are "touting" (ill use it lightly coz theyre not like English touts) theirs.

As for hotels, im going to Barcelona tonight so ill look at the hotels and that there and try and say what theyre like.

Why cant Barca only season ticket 95% of the ground. Perhaps starting from next season. And another thing why put our fans in the clouds by the scoreboard.   ??? :but:

Right, i had the guided tour of the Camp Nou on Friday and learnt a few things.

The reason that we are put so high is simply that that is their "away-end" ; i forgot to ask her why they (dodgy cheating c*nts attempting to stifle our atmosphere) separated us last time out.

The season ticket thing is pretty much 95% actually, they sell at the ticket office around 7000 tickets per normal league match to non-season ticket holders.

Still nobs tho!

Lonsdale have just debitted my card for the ticket @ £30 so the TO should have details soon.

Whilst on the subject I'm flying from Gatwick at 8am on the day of the game and staying overnight - if there's anyone driving from the West County via Swindon to Gatwick can you give me a shout to share a lift/petrol etc.

They've certainly stopped taking new applications for ETC memberships, though think they're still taking ticket apps from existing members.

Lonsdale Travel are sending at least two flights to Barca. I booked on the second flight ten days ago, and have just received my confirmation details. I also had to apply for ETC membership; LFC initially said that the club was closed, but have allowed me and my mate to join when I told them that we had booked with Lonsdale. If Lonsdale Travel still have seats and tickets left, and you have got a few hundred quid going begging, it may be worth making the call.

See you in the Nou Camp!

not sure whether anyone has chance of getting hold of barca tickets but if so is anyone interested in swapping 2 barca tickets for 2 to derby this weekend?

member of etc although had app back so no chance through official channel. going for week in benidorm with missus and driving up day of game so would like to get tickets before depart rather than risk from touts in barca.

can anyone help?
