It’s a Wait & See for me.

Money is tight, but surely with their whopping Majority they can move on social issues/undo a lot of Tory madness quite quickly? I hope they surprise me (in a good way) and are much more progressive than they let on.

Rayner in charge of Housing Communities and Levelling Up, gives her a really important portfolio, and Deputy PM

She will be, she tore Patel and Braverman apart regularly so will be interesting to see who the new Tory leader appoints as shadow HS.

The way she handled Cleverly was brilliant as well, often acting like she knew he was better than the stuff he was being made to come out and defend, and that she knew that he knew it too. She had that  ”not angry James, just disappointed” look and tone down to a tee.

If someone has the time and resources - can we get a list of 'stuff' that we can see at the top of the thread - like homeslessness, deficit and all the rest.

Be good if someone can say 'well - we HAVE done something there' and have the original and new stats to prove that.

This is something I've been thinking about for a while, not for RAWK but for Labour themselves to do. A website that distills changes to the things that matter to voters down to clear and concise graphs and numbers would be great, and would provide some much needed transparency after years of "look over there!".

Someone, possibly Parliament.uk, has archives of what pollees deem to be the most important political issues from month to month. Immigration was for years one of the big three, along with the economy and the NHS, until supplanted by Europe around Feb 2016.

The amount of talent Labour have is wonderful, and most of them women. Starmer has been an outstanding strategist, but there are quite a number of others I'd rather see fronting the Labour effort.

Contrast with the Tories, after Johnson's wrecking job in 2019.

Less sure about Vallance. I’m actually of the school of thought that a Minister shouldn’t think they know more about a subject than the experts that advise them. Also Vallance was hardly faultless as Chief Scientific Advisor. I think it’s a lazy and misguided appointment. The only blemish so far.

In the case of science, he's more likely to be in a position of actually being able to understand more of what he is being told as opposed to tory ones that did think they knew more than the experts.
