Absolutely shameful performance. 3 of our best back 4 and not a single one of them arsed.

But at least Spion Kop and SOS got to protest. Well done boys.

Grow up!

Didn't really feel like a quarter final from the start. Very slow start from the players (surprise..) and the crowd were very flat. Usually when Nunez is bursting through down the wing you get a buzz of excitement but there was none of that tonight in the ground.

They pushed up and onto to us every time we had possession of the ball we didn't know what to do with it so we went backwards. Robertson is the only player on the pitch who seemed willing to rise to the occasion and try and make something happen

The malaise from their first half performances seemed to transfer over to the players who came on. No spark, no pressure building, no persistent possession and no chance creation. Bleak
My mate is Sarah Harding's cousin from girls aloud, he looks a fair but like her which is a bit weird when i'm cracking one off over MTV like

I suspect knowing that your manager is leaving at the end of the season and also being filmed in the dressing room for a useless documentary are probably a couple of things that are too much for so many. Including the manager himself.

Recent performances seem to show a lack of composure and confidence.

First step, chuck the film crew out. Nothing to lose for Klopp he's going anyway. Boot them out. Then get the private thinking space for all the players to come together and work on their own emotions in what must be a very difficult situation.

They absolutely dominated us physically and in duels. Kind of like Arsenal did at the Emirates. But to do it at Anfield is something we haven’t seen in a long time.

Silver lining is we can fully focus on the league?  :-X

Although we still have a small chance.

Just be thankful we’ve won one trophy this season because we were running on fumes tonight. It was a pedestrian display and we struggled badly to implement any sort of pressing game tonight. We played the match like it was an early round League Cup tie and not a European quarter final. Atalanta were excellent, it’s a long time since I seen a side press with such intensity for 90 minutes and we just couldn’t cope. They exposed some of our players in possession badly by pressing them and we had a gaping hole up the middle.

All eggs go into the League basket now but based on what I’ve seen recently we are huge outsiders in that race too. Atalanta have exposed us badly tonight and set a template that other sides will be looking to expose.

They played well but I would say losing at home 3-0 to a team who have lost a third of their league games is embarrassing. Sorry. We’re Liverpool.

So you're saying we have a chance in the second leg?

the last time we were this bad, Roy Hodgson lead us to a famous loss at home to Wolves......

Fucking woeful, i hope them players look at themselves tonight, all of them no positives from tonight, none, this team have given us great times, but sometimes you have to take it on the chin and own up, lads you were piss poor.

Forwards dont know where the goal is, two howlers from the goalie, who's been brilliant and Dom gifting it away.....

Well done Atalanta, good luck in the semi's

Both fullbacks killed us today. Joe is probably knackered and Kostas just hasn't played enough to be in rhythm.

Kostas was set up for failure tonight, of the decisions Klopp got wrong that was the biggest. Robbo should have been in from the start.

Brainless.

Brainless at the back.  Brainless in midfield.  Brainless up top.

Brainless.

Had as much luck as we did brains tonight.  Not that we deserved any.

Atlanta, worked hard, defended well and scored with quality when they had the opportunity to do so. They also had some good fortune when they needed it.  Still, their win was well deserved and no complaints.

Ninety minutes at their place to sort it out.

Only good thing about tonight will be if it makes these ticket protesters fuck up.

Still think we might have lost the game, but we wouldn’t have been a fucking disgrace.

Focus on winning the 7 league games and play Gomez up top next Thursday.

They looked gassed to be honest. I’ve thought we looked complacent lately, but I think we are just fucked. I would absolutely not be chasing this one away in Italy. We’ve let the UEFA go tonight. Let’s just see if we’ve got enough in the tank to win the league games.

Their pressing and positioning was soo fucking disjointed so many times, we just dither on the ball and refuse to capitalise on mistakes or a side leaving gaps

92nd minute and we choose to dribble instead of floating a cross in behind their defence, abysmal decisions when there’s gaps to exploit

While some of the decision making could be better there were times when they had our players surrounded meaning we couldn't keep hold of the ball. They were hunting in packs which was very effective especially against us at the moment, when we have obviously run out of gas.

Can't help but feel that the wheels are coming off after some recent poor performances (including wins). Players look leggy, young players who have stepped up are showing their inexperience, key players losing form.

Feels like one of those loses that we've had coming.

Thing is we're not really playing all the young kids now. Bradley, Quansah and Kelleher pretty much it but yeah, they've all seemingly hit a wall. Kelleher doesn't seem to get a good grip on shots ATM, they all keep squirming out his hands, felt he could have kept hold of the first shot for the thirds goal, didn't seem to have a lot of pace on it (awful defending notwithstanding).

Actually playing some of the younger midfielders might have helped, the first teamers got completely out ran and outbattled.

That was pretty appalling. The subs were wrong. Gakpo was good on the ball but couldn’t stretch them off it and Endo was half asleep.

We’re basically guaranteed to concede big chances regularly and Kelleher is very good but not Alisson. Frustrating lack of tactical awareness and we clearly gave the impression that it was not a priority.

This was a time to have a beer and forget about it performance. Nothing worked. It is easy to be angry at the team for this one, but we were so poor on so many fronts that sometimes it is hard to know where to begin, and the best thing to do might be not to.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Unbelievably lax performance. Players just holding onto the ball for too long over, and over, and over again, and inevitably getting tackled or muscled off it.

I don't know whether it's more or less worrying how many goals we concede from specific individual errors versus simply being opened up - it must be five or six in our last few games, and often from players just being too casual or cute. Hopefully it's more of a mental blip than some more systemic that's going to keep costing us for the next month, because we can't be relying on scoring 2+ goals every single game.

Was hoping the FA Cup loss would end up being a timely wake-up call that we're not destined to clean up just because it's Klopp's last season. Was then hoping that the draw at the weekend would really be that wake-up call, because we now have no margin for error. But this really, really needs to be the wake-up call, because we're at serious risk of going from a great shot of a treble to just a League Cup as the grand finale.

The good news is that although Atalanta were very good tonight, if we get back to the levels and mentality that we know this side are capable of, they're not an elite enough side that we have no chance of turning it around next week.

For once, Klopp got it wrong. The wrong players subbed, and couldn’t cope with them tactically. Could have been so different had Harvey’s effort gone in, and Nunez currently so poor with his clear 1v1 in the first half hour. It took 75 minutes to replace Endo, and Joe stayed on the whole game - bad decisions from our boss in my opinion.

Having said all that, 3-0 is not a fair reflection of that match - everything that could have gone wrong for us, did. They on the other hand, rode their luck. Narrow offsides, rebounds, being in the right place at the right time, etc. etc.

Is becoming a blip? At the worst possible time?

We were so poor tonight but we have all seen us be poor and not lose 0-3. They were absolutely brilliant and deserved a comfortable win.

There’s lots not right here. Can the players coming back, without the fitness and sharpness, bridge the gap so the League doesn’t slip away too? Hmm.

Big 3 days for them all to pick themselves up and show a bit more. Kind of what we were expecting tonight from Sunday’s game.

We were able to get away unscathed (and with a trophy) with so many changes and missing players due to momentum and goals. Goals feel like they’re a bit harder to come by and it’s exposing the issues we were covering up. Can’t fault any of the young lads or the players coming in to do a job but not having our best XI for so long was always going to show in some way IMO.

All our energy has to go into the League now.

Played well against Utd? No chance, we played similar to tonight. Turn up thinking it was going to be easy, stroll about and piss around rather than finish chances. The only difference is Atalanta are miles better than United.

We played very well in that game and can genuinely feel a bit hard done by not to have won, albeit partially of our own making.

Completely different tonight.

I’ve been saying this for months but you play your best team in quarter finals, 6 fucking changes, winds me up everytime I think about it.

Well that was deeply shit.

Be arsed picking out specific individual performances tonight, we got battered as a team and everyone should be getting a bollocking for it. The exception is Gakpo's 1st half performance, but even he faded quite badly in the 2nd half.

We look leggy and a little mentally shot, think the United game has left them in doubt.

Need a massive response on Sunday or it could be season over.
Been all over the world but Anfield is still my home.

Kelleher has done very well for us given the ridiculous amount of matches Allison has missed, but while he is PL quality, Allison is still a level higher and I hope he is back ASAP. Same with Bradley vis a vis TAA
