Unlike the run ins before, they are the ones that need to hope we drop points. As long as we take it 3pts at a time, the title is ours.
Yep. We have been stronger than City in the run-in over the las 5 years- albeit marginally, but City's usually been in the driving seat which is why they win it in the end.
This time we are, and it would take a total collapse from us to lose it now.
Our fixtures also, are managable.

In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..

But he'd make the shortlist

It would not take a total collapse. It’d take a draw at Utd and Everton and City winning out. Both those scenarios are entirely possible.

With the stakes this high, I'd take anything that has us ending in 2nd or 3rd as a total collapse.
That's why the autopsy refers to it as "bottling".

Way OTT, and unfair, BUT the amount of force it would take to dislodge a fervent, bl00dy-minded, no holds barred goal, vision and refusal to give in, would have to be extra ordinary at this point.
IF such a thing happens, we'll be jolted back down to 2nd or 3rd- and 3rd is quite a ways from 1st.

Still... game-by-game. We're not here to win the title.
We're here to win every game.

This doesn’t make any sense. The stakes don’t change the typical understanding of what a total collapse or bottling it actually is. If we were 6+ points ahead at this point, perhaps that’d qualify as a total collapse. But we’re currently 2nd, a point behind first and level on points with 3rd, albeit with a game in hand. We could finish 2nd or 3rd whilst performing to ‘par’ on the alternative PL table. Not likely, but we could. That wouldn’t be even close to a total collapse. It’d be the opposite in fact, a brilliant crack at the title foiled by a team who were even better (in arsenals case) or cheats (in city’s case). By your logic losing a tight CL final is a total collapse or bottling it because of how high the stakes are.

I do believe the term "bottled it" will be getting revised by some of the modern footie beauts if we fail to win it from here

Totally. Opposition fans will certainly use it of p
us if we don’t win it from here. Is that what red pill means? We’ll be accused of bottling it?

I imagine so yes. Sticking the knife in- anything to get us seething. It's just one of those things in life we'll have to deal with.

For what it's worth though, its exceedingly hard for me to see us "dropping the ball" (another revision of "bottling" ;) )

It’s ridiculous this bottling thing. Liverpool have been incredible this season, the new midfield, the injuries, the ref decisions, klopps announcement, the number of games, won a trophy already, but if you lose 1 game in about 20, bottlers! And thats up against the 115 charges cheats. Its all a little bit insane.

I know mate.
Still.. we "bottled" it before against City- in similar circumstances- losing by a point. ;)

I'm sure someone has asked before but isn't this the second time Martínez has been "Ill" before playing City?

So aside from a comfortable win what are we hoping for tonight in the mid table clash?

A) A Utd win which keeps them believing they can get CL football meaning that Ten Head may have to go for it on Sunday?
B) Chelsea win or draw which basically means they've nothing to play for and Ten Head may get the Pulis tactics book out?

or

C) Couldn't care less?

Yeah, pretty much. Not serious injury, but enough to weaken them further for the weekend.
Games against this lot are always hard to call- regardless of form. The ref will prolly want to have something to say about this, but as long as we keep our heads down and focus on winning it, we should be fine.

A one game lead is not bottling it LOL because anything can happen in one game but a 2-game lead at this stage would definitely tossing it away.

C.

United got outplayed by Brentford in a must-win last week. If we play football, we'll beat them.

They've got Spurs away to play yet. Been something of a bogey side to City over the past couple of years.

City got to play a Villa side with zero spine. No Martinez, McGinn, or Watkins. You just know they will play Spurs after a few red cards and a Son niggle that will keep him out for one match and that will just happen to be the City match.  ::)

Rashford, Mount and McTominey all on bench.

Assume he starts them versus us.

Sterling? I am pretty neutral to him, but not mentioning Bruno in that kind of sentence is weird, not to forget Garnacho and Antony, i would love to punch each and one of them in their stupid faces.
