Never happen - there will always be a software bug that will mean driverless cars still kill people. I'd trust a human more than I'd ever trust a computer.

had a debate with my brother about that.  he spent his career as an electronics engineer in the RAF.  his view was "if we can work out how to make a plane take off, fly, and land by itself - all in dreadful weather - we'll figure out how to make cars drive themselves safely".

it'll get safer, will never be 100%, but overall safety will improve over today.

Makes sense rather than owning a vehicle that spends most of its time stationary and depreciating in value by the day. Especially in cities like London where you have Ubers, lots of public transport and other services like Zipcar if you do need a vehicle. We rented out our parking space in London - which was a great money spinner during the two weeks of Wimbledon.

Also, I use my feet for any journey less than an hour walk. My trabs bill is high.

There'll likely be accidents, of course, but it needs to be compared to the number of road accidents caused by humans, which are 20m to 50m (with injuries) per annum globally with an estimated 1.35m deaths. If that was a flu pandemic, we'd be trying to wipe it out.

Back to the original post, I didn't drink a cup of coffee until I was 40 and commuting to my current job - felt like something I needed to try out and counter the tiredness.  12 years later I'm still tired but no longer commuting  .

Smoking - no fucking chance of doing that - watched throat cancer kill my dad slowly for four years until I was 12, that was enough to tell me fags are shite.

Yeah that's the cheapest quote I've got on comparison sites for every car I've checked. Have had others at Ł12k too.

Just finding cars on FB Marketplace and getting quotes before deciding whether to go chec the car out. Absolutely no point with prices like that.

I can pick him up one now and get me as the main driver and add him as a learner for about Ł1100, but adding him as a newly qualified driver puts it up to the Ł5k again.
