Betfair is interesting.  Alonso now out to 8-1, Amorim is favourite with DeZebri 2nd,
Gary O’Neil is 3rd favourite….lol..or am I missing something.
He’s 15-1 mind.

Hughes binned him last summer so that feels a particularly outlandish shout even before you get to questioning his actual credentials.

Beyond him it's looking very weak and it's a case of begging Ljinders to take it.

Think i might just take that over Amorim actually.

Let's just carry on with our current blueprint and see where it leads us.

Since our impending Sporting Director sacked O’Neil it would certainly be something if he thinks he’s the right man for us a year later. More chance of us going to Bournemouth and approaching Iraola.

He’s managed one club.  It was an unmitigated disaster.  I can see why they’d want someone with more experience as a number one.

Ljinders won 11 of his 22 games at NEC and lost in the playoff semi-final. I think calling it an unmitigated disaster is a bit of a stretch.

I know he's adamant he's leaving with Klopp but Klopp could talk him into it if it was on the cards.

Not exactly ideal anyway but preferable to a lot of the no-marks being banded about.

And the final is 14th July. Germany may not make the final (or semis only a few days earlier) but we need a manager in place for the start of pre-season and in situ preparing for the job in June.

It could be difficult but not unthinkable that we’re OK with that and wait for him. I’m sure he’ll bring a team of people in and he can let them start pre season if he ends up having a deep run with Germany. I agree it’s not ideal but if the club think he’s the best candidate, they’ll wait a few weeks rather than dismiss him because he has to start a few weeks later than preferred.

But thats exactly it, with Amorim he is young and has a league title under his belt in a weak league. If our ability to be a top side is what everyone is worried about then everyone should fill you with dread.

I’m not expecting us to compete for the title next season if I’m being completely honest. Jurgen’s a once in a generation Manager and whilst we have a very good group of players, he’s undoubtedly the main reason we’ve still been able to compete, despite having significantly less resources then the cheats.

Links to the likes of O'Neil and De Zerbi. I think i'd rather Marco Silva from a PL club if it's that desperate.

Honestly, beyond Amorim, it's looking pretty bleak out there. I'd be intrigued by Inzaghi if he was an option. I also don't hate Nagelsmann as much as a lot of others on here, but he'd be my reluctant 4th choice.

De Zerbi fills me with pessimism, and everyone beyond that feels like a rogue shout at best. Can't say any one of Thomas Frank, Unai Emery or Ange Postecoglu fill me with excitement either.

For anyone looking for the roguest of shouts, Bet365 currently have Abel Xavier at 40/1 for some reason. His last managerial job was the Mozambique national team in 2019, if anyone's still pining for a former player to make a glorious return. ;D

Yep. To add to that, a lot of our top level players are the wrong side of 30. I think people are underestimating the level of transition the side is due for in the next two-three seasons.

The good thing is presumably there will still be a lot of people behind the scenes who know what they are doing apart from the new Sporting Director (in the sense he isnt proven here).

Media briefing that Alonso not on our shortlist, as we don’t think he will be available this summer  ???
maybe that's what we are telling them, that Times article also claims that Michael Edwards is now CEO of FSG not CEO of football.

It may be true it may not but until we announce our next manager nothing is yet certain.

We might know more when Leverkusen seal the Bundesliga
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Seriously what the effin hell is wrong with Klopp!? We have a good thing going and he's packing it in like a twat. Actually annoyed at him for the first time.

Take some anti-aging supplements or something. Top up on B12 for energy. Apparently it's good for an energy boost.

Ginseng, Zinc, Ashwaganda, L-Citrulline, Beetroot powder, L-Tyrosine, Maca powder, CoQ10. I mean this is just a lazy google search, but i'm sure there must be something out there.

Fucks sake.

I think if we get the right guy whoever that is, we’ll be in excellent shape to keep challenging for things.

Yes it might be too much to expect us to win things straight away, but equally I don’t think there should be a big drop off. That might indicate we’ve got the wrong person in.

There’s so much potential in this squad that I really don’t see us falling away. As long as we get the right person we could be better than we are now within a couple of seasons

I think one thing to factor in is that whilst we have some excellent footballers, our best ones are actually quite old now and our youngest of that cohort having some contract questions. Any new manager may have to move this side forward with the likes of Salah, Van Dijk, Robertson etc starting to be past their top level form.

Its a big challenge.
