I think there’s a strong choice it ends up Nagelsmann to be honest. He was being heavily tipped for Dortmund and there have been reports he has other plans.

Not sure. Seems a massive prick.

De Zerbi is too emotional for me.

Maybe it's someone completely left field.  Ah well nevermind eh.
He'll win the league in the next 3 years. Quote me on that.
Quote me on this, but come next season he'll be great for us. Just needs to remove the walking headless chicken next to him

Need to put five past them. Mind you we did that to Alisson and he turned out alright.

If De Zerbi is staying at brighton next season there is a very good chance he gets sacked imo. That should say it all.

If he’d had just seen out his contract it would have been the perfect time for Alonso. So it’s Klopps fault.

The front runner is Amorim.

The problem is there are not really any great candidates at all. You can make a case for all not being ideal.

Ultimately it has to be someone but likelihood is that it isnt anyone exciting.

I don't think he is too emotional, I think he's too naive tactically. He plays the way he plays and either looks good and wins, draws, or gets battered.

That's not something that can fly here. With him we'll be challenging for top 4

No one is better than Klopp.

But De Zerbi is certainly not the answer. Brighton didn’t keep a clean sheet for 20 games this season.

The pool is worse than 2015. Amorim is the best option because we don't yet know what his limitations are. He may not be good enough at all, but we don't know

Everyone else is not good enough, and we know it

If we’re all honest, it was always the emotional connection with Xabi that was the main draw. It would have been a gamble because he doesn’t have enough experience. Amorim ticks most of the same boxes and has more experience. I’d be all in on him.

Alonso could’ve been good but if he doesn’t want the job well then he’s clearly not ready for a job the size of Liverpool and he’s best to be avoided.

Be Rubes or Jules you'd imagine. I want Rubes but can already see the Jules back patting articles about how we've followed him for ages and been desperate to have him since Hoffenheim. Missing the first few weeks of pre season would be a pain in the arse but wouldn't imagine it's a deal breaker, he could start on July 16th, earlier if Germany are out before the final, most of the main players won't be back anyway.

We are not getting Arteta though.

A couple of years ago you’d have dismissed Arteta as being incapable of mounting back to back title challenges. How can you say there isn’t a manager out there who could get our squad to do the same?

The dude is winning Bundesliga at a canter without losing a single game so far.

While Amorim ticks many of the same boxes and has more experience, his achievements are not as good as what Alonso is doing.

I always said Amorim has questions of whether he can translate. He is doing it in a smaller league with worse players. Can he make the step up to the bigger stage.

Alonso has less experience but winning the Bundesliga against that Bayern team, without losing a match is significantly better achievement. Question is can he keep doing that.

Might. And that is based off an achievement of one league and one league challenge for Sporting in Portugal. Thats all we really have to go off.

Fact is the pool is shite and they are replacing one of our best ever managers, or certainly the best of a lot of peoples Liverpool supporting lifetimes. There is nobody we can say gets us challenging.

Alonso isn't coming so forget about that in the equation.

Amorim might not be good enough. We don't know  his limit. It's a punt, maybe an educated one but a punt.

De Zerbi ISN'T good enough.

Between the two I would rather someone I don't know, compared to someone I know isn't

I am FAR from an ITK and this is probably me misinterpreting what was said, but my boss is from a small town between Düsseldorf and Leverkusen. He’s a long term Leverkusen season ticket holder, and his son - now in the US on a sports scholarship for golf - was in Leverkusen’s academy in the same group as Florian Wirtz. My boss knows Wirtz’s father. He claims Wirtz’s father told him that Wirtz was staying one more season because Alonso was and then wanted to follow Xabi wherever he goes next.

Take it with a huge pinch of salt, I’m still feeling the guy out for what he’s like, but he doesn’t seem a bullshitter. What I will say is I’m still unsure if he’s painting idle chatter and wishful thinking as fact or not. I also think it’s all well and good Wirtz saying he’s staying, but Alonso probably won’t have told the team his intentions because it would prove a distraction, and if a club comes in with £100m for Wirtz, he’ll have little say in whether he’s there another year or not.

Sounds like your boss wasn't talking shite then.
