It really shows how far Italian football has fallen. The level of talent coming out of Italy right now isn't even a fraction of what they had 20-30 years ago.

I’m not changing anything. My three at the back are better than any current English centre backs (maybe not Pearce but solid left footed option). Young a candidate to change but at wing back he’s no worse than Shaw or Chilwell.

Centre midfield, think I’d rather Ince doing the dirty work alongside De Bruyne than Rice and Bellingham is too young for this.

Not putting Kane in ahead of Rush (or Keegan).

For that reason, I’ll hold what I have.

Thankfully Buffon is still in the 2014 World Cup squad, so nothing changes for me really. All the other good possibles are either CBs which aren't upgrades or players already taken by others. De Rossi is class, but don't think he adds anything to my midfield.

Two time champions league winner, Panucci from Maggio feels a big upgrade. Definitely closer to the top bracket.

De Rossi and Deschamps is a close call but adds a bit more attacking threat rather than having two sixes which isn’t really necessary with Baresi and Costacurta at the back.

Upgraded right back and more balanced midfield.

I did wonder. But thought the idea of having further rounds of drafting during the competition might help that. Fingers crossed it does help, if not we learn from it in the future.

Going to launch the second round of the Group B matches shortly.

Whilst they run over the next day, I’ll also open up the 12th category for people to pick players from. Nobody has to pick a player from the category but it’s there for people to strengthen their sides if they want.

The pick must be a substitute for another player and your team must represent 11 different categories still with one category designated to each player.


The 12th Category is:

Any player who was in the squad at their nations last World Cup appearance.

For example: If your inspiration pick was  Robbie Savage you could have picked any player from the Wales 2022 World Cup Squad as Robbie Savage is Welsh and Wales last appeared at a World Cup in 2022.

Picks will work on a first come first serve basis.

Teams will be updated from Round 3.

Yep any team can make changes at any time with the categories that are live and their posted team will be used from the next time they play, but it will be not be used in a match that is live at that moment. Hope that makes sense.
