Looking to go away early October somewhere warm and relaxing.

Any nice suggestions for Europe? I know Greece can be out of season then and stormy in some parts.

We like culture and want to avoid all inclusive if we can.

October is always going to be up in the air weather wise. Could get a lucky week but as you say could also get a rough week. Best bet weather wise would be one of the Canary Islands I’d say. At a push Cyprus may still be clinging on to a late summer but you just never know.

We're doing Cyprus this October, went two years ago and the weather was lovely, we did the water park twice have also done Tenerife in October and it was boiling.

That whole part of the med around Crete to Cyprus is having crap weather this year, Crete was cloudy and cooler than last year when we went 3 weeks ago, so we're hoping Cyprus is as nice as last time.

Not Europe but on the edge of flight time for Europe would be Morocco. Agadir or Marrakesh will be hot in October and full of culture.

Got back from Mexico a couple of days ago. Incredible holiday. So hot. 26*c lows, 35*c highs. The pool and sea were like getting into a warm bath, food and drink great, chichen itza incredible, snorkelling with stingrays and sea turtles was great. The cenote's were breathtaking.

Spent the last 3 days trying to work out how we get back there as soon as possible.

Only issue I had was the dickheads at Manchester airport breaking the wheels off my suitcase on the way home.

Seville will also be warm.

Could do a trip to Cordoba for the day and maybe down to Jerez/Cadiz too.

We were thinking Sevilla (or Proto / Lisbon) - have done all three but great places

In Lindos. Been hot all week. Naturally I have burnt my legs. The sound of thunder in the distance today, but no rain.

Lindos has, unsurprisingly, developed in the 25 years since I was last here: the next bay is full of new hotels and villas somewhat deceptively it’s still called Lindos. Hmmm. The old town/village remains pretty much the same, though disappointingly they seem to have allowed more car access. The rooftop restaurants, the views and the food remain excellent. There seems to be some kind of rock festival on with people even older than me flitting from locations across the island. Nearby St.Paul’s Bay has also been developed with bars and expensive cabanas. €40/day is taking the piss. It was just a rocky cove on my last visit.

Just back from Davao City on Mindanao Philippines, a great city very clean with friendly people I loved it there. I spent 3 days in Manila and that place is chaotic to say the least, horrendous traffic and a lot on the scam there especially the taxis.

I think you'll struggle to find a whole lot for £500-£600 end of September. Turkey would probably be your best bet for that budget. However, I went to Turkey last year and this year and think it's gone downhill big time and is not really cheap place anymore - which admittedly is less of a concern if you're going all inclusive.

Prices have gone through the roof, you really need to book early to get decent deals, they no longer give deals when it gets closer. Also, September always jumps up for some reason, its like they want to hit people who don't have kids so don't go away in summer, but go away as soon as the kids go back to school. We stayed at Side Star Resort near Antalya, lovely place, just looked at there for the end of Sept, that's £1k pp, we paid around £600 each for half term Oct last year.

Just priced that Rob and it's £901 which is a bit over the budget!!
We've just come back from Icmeler last week so was hoping to squeeze a cheap one in before the end of the year

My missus is mad on holidays and she says its really hard to get a late deal. We book 12 months in advance and she keeps seeing the prices go up from what we are paying, like a grand or more, so she loves it.

same here. she spends god knows how many hours online looking for deals.  I'd take the first "ok-ish" deal I saw and move on.  can't complain though she ends up getting real value.  we've already booked 95% of our Asia trip for next Feb/March.

the hotel and airfare sites are bastards sometimes though - more and more  these days she spots a good deal, tries to book it and the price immediately (and I mean immediately) jumps 50%, 60% or more.  she did this twice yesterday.  I assume this trick works and some people don't notice or just book anyway?

"bait and switch" pricing is illegal in real life but not online.

I just leave her to it now, she does it all through EasyJet or Jet2 and she'shappy with what she pays, so all good. We've got Cyprus Oct, she's already booked Tenerife for Feb and Portugal for next May and is now looking at somewhere for Oct.

I have to watch what I say now, as my eldest has started reading my posts on here, so if we ever do a surprise holiday for a big birthday, the knobhead will know about it.

That reminds me of some poster on here asking for advice, he'd met some woman while his wife was away, banged her then wanted to know about credit card charges, something to do with paying on the Oyster card iirc - I recommended he deleted the post before his missus saw it ;D

If anyone is going to Cyprus and intending to drive out there then be aware of the latest speed camera vans they are deploying. The vans are unmarked and so far all have been plain white, they use them in towns as well as on the motorways. They have a tiny camera on the back & front of the roof , the only giveaway is they always have 2 red & white traffic cones at the rear of the van.

Lovely. I love the Algarve.  8)

Lovely place it is , just on our last day at vale de lobo near faro ( the scene of the Bellamy / risse golf club incident ) the weather has been unbelievably hot , the hottest I’ve known here in June , 94 degrees in old money pretty much every day .

My brother's been over there to play golf. I believe they have some fabulous courses on the Algarve.

I hope you've enjoyed it. I think I've been more times to the Algarve than any other place.

Those temperatures are more like what we had in the Maldives recently. 🌞🫠

I mentioned this is the small things that make you happy thread, but I've spent the past few days watching YT videos on ships and cruises, especially Fred Olsen and the Borealis and Bolette, the former I'll be sailing on. I'm so frickin hyped for this trip.
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.
