Looks better each game. The penalty all came from him holding off the defender, playing it to Diaz, then running past their midfield.

He had 2 or 3 runs where he was pointing and yelling at Diaz to pass the ball. Diaz was a bit late or never made the pass in each case. Once that understanding develops - it's another layer to the attack.

Just really excellent reactions for the goal.  He wasn't even running until Mac Allister played that pass, it was just a brilliant little clipped ball over the top and he reacted to it so quickly and finished so instinctively.

plus the fact that twice - within a couple of minutes - he found space right in front of the oppo goal, basically unmarked. doesn't happen by accident.

They're completely different players for me.  Darwin plays off the shoulder, is quick and not all that involved in build up, he's a pure striker.  Zlatan was slower, much better technically and played as more of a traditional target man or false 9.

I dont agree with any of the comparisons to be honest. I have no idea why but I love watching him. He frustrates me so much at times but then other times he is so exciting to watch To me he is a total mystery... and honestly I think thats why he is such a joy, just something different & new.

It has to help that we have a functioning midfield, right? that and understanding pressing triggers - having Diaz up front who also likes to press or at least is quick to recover must help too.

Yep, he's unique - but in terms of effect he's more Drogba than Zlatan.

Didn't Drogba struggle in his first year or so at Chelsea? Seem to remember folk thinking they'd bought a donkey before he hit his stride, accusations similar to what Darwin experienced last year.
