So this seems to be popping up everywhere:https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/You have 6 guesses to find out the word for the day. They change the word every day (same word for everyone), and you can't game the system by putting in something like AAAAA, has to be a word in its database.Got today's one in 4, yesterday just scraped in with my 6th guess.
Crosby Nick never fails.

What does it do if you get a letter right, in the right place, but that letter also repeats somewhere else? Does it appear as green or orange, or half and half? Or does it not give you any clue?

What was it? (in a spoiler )
What does it say? I can't get on using work computer and won't let me view the thread on mobile without downloading an app. I'm sure the other day when it was 'Banal' there was no indication that the letter a appeared twice.
Yesterday I realised I didn't completely understand how Wordle behaves when you guess words with repeated letters. So, armed with Incognito Mode, I decided to fiddle round and test a few words. The conclusion is that Wordle mostly handles repeated letter as you'd expect it to, but there's an interesting design quirk when your guess repeats letters and none of them are in the right spot. Here is the full set of rules which I think govern Wordle:1. A particular letter (e.g. 'N') will only 'light up' (be colored green or yellow) as many times as it is in the word.Yesterday's word was BANAL, which only contains one 'N' and one 'L'. So in my guesses of ANNAL, UNION and ALLOY only one 'N' or 'L' lights up.By contrast, BANAL contains two As, and both As in ANNAL light up.2. If you repeat a letter more times than it is contained in the word, and one of the repeated letters is in the correct position, that letter will always light up in green. In ANNAL the 'N' in slot 3 is in the right position, so it is lit up in green.3. If you repeat a letter more times than it is contained in the word, but none of the repeated letters is in the correct position, the first letter will light up in yellow. In UNION, neither N is in the correct position. So the 'N' in slot 2 gets lit up in yellow. This implicitly also tells you that the N is not in position 5 - otherwise, that N would have lit up in green instead.Similarly, none of the Ls in ALLOY are in the right position, so the L in slot 2 lights up - but this implicitly tells you that slot 3 is not right for the L either
That is useful but doesn't answer my question exactly.Taking their example of "Banal", what would it do if I guessed "cairn"? If the A just went green, I would have no indication there was another A in the answer. In their example they have guessed with Annal which has 2 A's in it already so it isn't the same scenario.
As I've said before, the Full English is just the base upon which the Scots/Welsh/NI have improved upon. Sorry but the Full English is the worst of the British breakfasts.
I got it in 3 on first ever gameDo you think we should call MENSA?
