They do seem a bit needlessly hyped up, for what is essentially an open training session. Two heavy, misstimed challenges inside two minutes, the second one being the type of thing would be checked for a red in a proper game.

Konate - out of position a lot isn't he?

Almost a handful of times when he was quite far up the pitch and the play progressed behind him. No real urgency to get back into position either. Milner was having to cover for him a fair bit.

But hey, it's pre-season! As long as he doesn't do that against Norwich then all good.

Not bad, Stuttgart went with a strong line up and looked pretty good, we did well. Good to see Elliott dominating possession like a senior pro, he's really got something that kid.

In the first game, a bit lifeless largely but good for some players to get out there and be involved with the senior pros.

You can get 7/5 odds for Liverpool to win this against Stuttgart with bet365.

I know it’s a 30 min pre season friendly but that seems very generous considering the quality we have starting in this one.

yeah the 2nd game decent.  VfB’s mad tackles aside! But they put out a strong line up too.

Elliott is going to be a fun player to watch grow with this team.

I thought Konate was fantastic today. Held the line excellently and when offside was breached put on the after burners. He is seriously rapid. Ball retention, first touch, passing accuracy were all brill when it could have been rusty preseason.

He definitely has a very languid style to his game, but getting the line right is probably one of the toughest asks for any new centre backs in our system.  Davies and Matip were a bit up and down in the first game too.

Elliot really looks like the real deal with so much composure on the ball and some great vision as well.  Would love to see him get game time this season rather than going out on loan.

Tsimikas also looked really good and having a genuine option available to give Robertson some rest now and then will be huge.

From Karius's perspective, he'll be on far more money at Liverpool than he'll get anywhere else so may as well see out his contract and then see what options he has to rebuild his career. He's so bad that he'd have to drop a number of levels down to find a club willing to take a punt on him.

I'm sure we'd have sold him if we could but I highly doubt that clubs are queuing up to take him off our hands and those that would won't be at the level to tempt Karius to give up his lucrative contract.

Was just nice to see Liverpool again in any form of football. Good for the lads to get fitness in their legs in a very nice setting to play football. Not really a fan of 30 mins games but I guess in modern football it is a try it and see thing. On to the next game.

We are judging a player after a 30 minute pre-season friendly, in a team that has a very specific way of playing and holding the line.

Yeah things never change come pre-season :D

Loved how Harvey passed the ball forward every time he had it. a couple of times I was expecting him to play it back but had the confidence in both feet to play the pass up instead.

Kostas looked decent as well forward and defending
