Away in France so missed the game as have been travelling. Saw we went 1-0 down then got back to 1-1 and had loads of chances to win it.

What is the point of a game of this stature going to penalties? Previously the trophy used to be shared. A pointless exercise  at this stage of the season for me.

Well done Manchester City!!

Well done reds, outplayed the fuckers
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

What Klopp says there is exactly what I'd been saying all through the close season as well.

Today showed what a full fit squad (Milly and Mane being the exceptions, but with Sadio that's only general fitness and not coming back from injury) holds in store. We've got a young, hungry squad that is massively together and yes, pre-season has not been the best results-wise but it's only tomorrow that sees the entire squad for the season together for the first time since Madrid. It's utter madness to expect anyting other than disjointedness.

First half today we looked still a little lost and still created chances, but second half today!? That game should have been 5-2 to us. Think that as good as Gomez is, Matip seems to compliment Virg better at the moment and he's taken up from where he left off. Ox looks awesome considering what happened to him and to me the thing with that (and it was seen in the Seville game) is that he can take physicality. Mentally, he's over it which is a massive thing. The good news from us, it that the starting 11 knows it has to perform and more prevalently, the players not selected are desperate to play. The ideal scenario, which if we went out and bought someone may well destabilise things. That second half showing if we replicate it Friday will reap massive dividends and bodes well for the season.

All I wanted from the friendlies was no injuries. All I wanted from the end of last season was not to lose anyone. How can you not be pleased with that? It's not as if we were Spurs from last year that was massively bereft in a number of positions depth-wise.

Klopp and his team has got this preseason spot on. Think there was a stage where we were possibly looking at bringing someone in, but the kids stepped up and showed there's no need yet. Have a feeling the winter window will see an addition, but apart from that, take massive heart from today and let' batter the fuck out of Norwich on Friday.

I can't wait...

Didn't watch the game, sounds like they played a good 2nd half.  Hopefully everyone through it unscathed ready for the new season.

In the pub packed with city. At final whistle they were all asking why are we not just sharing the trophy? We should boycott pens.

Win on pens and they celebrate like a last min winner in the champions league. Odd bunch these days.

First half not great. Missed bits of the first 20, but great to see Joe Gomez back in the pairing. Was pleased he started, and pleased to see him out wide and to bring big Joel in well before 'Matip time' on 94. Think we may see this a bit. Happy with either Joe/Joel v Norwich - just good to see him back looking sharp and quick.

As I missed bits of the first 20 I spent the next 20 or so working out why Glenn Hoddle had his dick out so much about City's play. Clearly the better side sure, but shit me? Put it away Glenn!

Was a decent game tho which surprised me, although couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed for Pep kicking off there (first yellow card for a manager pinned to the lapel), but fair fucks to both sides. And fair fucks to us who came out like that for the 2nd half... was struggling to imagine it.

Was fond of the three changes. Was interested to see where they were deployed and they seemed everywhere at times.

Good run out, very good game. Don't mind penalties at the end of this tho have some time for the sharing thing. I understand City were exuberant. Get a grip.

I don't get how that headline means you come to that conclusion.

He wanted to go to somewhere with guaranteed trophies and had zero patience to wait it out with Liverpool.

Maybe he didn't want to play for Rodgers, I have no clue, I didn't really follow or know of all the 'gossip' that went around with the shit way he left the club, but I don't think that was the reason he wanted out.

The only daft part of that, was them doing that stupid programme, so it got caught on tv.

The issue was the agent.

Rodgers refrained from criticising the player in public, but did have some sharp words of rebuke for his representative Ward, saying his behaviour was “being led by the representative”.

Ward was critical of Rodgers at the time, saying that there had been a breakdown of trust between the manager and the player.

And he has renewed his attack today in an interview with The Daily Mail, claiming that 50 per cent of Anfield's squad would say that Rodgers "is not a good manager".

That second half was a real marker, very well satisfied with that. Please take note all those who shat themselves after Napoli, the difference between players who have been mercilessly whipped around the track several dozen times and then shoved out to play a match on top of that without regard for pain barriers, and a team that has been more or less normally prepared to play a game with the idea of hopefully winning it.

That was a great second half, actually a very entertaining game overall. Their goal was somewhere between lucky and goalie error imo, I would say we deserved better but since we lost on Pens its obviously a completely insignificant show pony of a game, rather than the glorious first trophy of the season it might have been should we have gotten our properly deserved victory  ;D

And lets have less of this chanting lark at football matches,I like to hear what the managers are shouting & the clanking of studs on the posts.

I'm just thinking about how mental it is when United or City start singing about us as soon as they take the lead. Would dread for us to end up like that, to care so little about your own team that your more concerned about insulting another team.
