Would rather have played City at home 2nd half of the season. Fixture list is fixed and always has been. Chelsea near the end of the season again aswell.

They don't wanna make it any easier for us, do they? Title run in versus Arsenal and Chelsea sandwiched in between European Cup semi finals...

May

Saturday 2 – Arsenal (A)
Saturday 9 – Chelsea (H)
Sunday 17 – Newcastle United (A)

Yeah, that is pretty grim....... Although goodness only knows what state Newcastle will be in, and Arsenal could well have imploded by then

If that's true then October/early November is pretty grim.

Nah! Only 2 tough games: Spurs and Man City.  The rest are cannon fodder! :D

Always seem to get Chelsea at home for the run in.

Tough last 3 games and October/November  looks pretty solid but there’s always a period of the season where the fixtures are a nightmare.

Kinda glad we’re playing city in April this time round. Would have preferred the second game at home but I’ll take it. We seem to be much better after new year so bring them all on

Those four games in October/ November:

United(A)
Spurs(H)
Villa(A)
City(H)

That looks like the toughest period, plus CL group games are around that time too. Also, Chelsea and Arsenal in the last three is tricky so we'll just have to win it before then ;)

Away boxing day but Home games either side of the new year is good.

October and November (when you add in the CL group games) is going to be tough. And the run in is horrible.

They usually do.  I actually think it's a good time to play Arsenal away.

February
Saturday 1 – Southampton (H)
Saturday 8 – Norwich City (A)
Saturday 22 – West Ham United (H)
Saturday 29 – Watford (A)

March
Saturday 7 – Bournemouth (H)
Saturday 14 – Everton (A)

The second half is significantly more tricky than the first this time. I would assume the west ham away fixture gets moved for club world cup.

positive spin is that if they are introducing new players to their squads it's better to play them earlier in the season before they have time to gel

Plus three of their four defeats in the league last season were to teams outside of the top six, hopefully their first defeat happens very early on.

Fixture lists are never completely random, they have to consider the infrastructure/policing so I assume that's why you see similar patterns every year.

Hopefully but City hardly letting in a goal or facing a corner as they smash all the shite for 10 games is not a great thought.

Our games v rest of top 6 always seem to come in clusters....for example Spurs do not face a fellow top 6 side back to back all season....yet we do 3 times.

Yeah -

Quote
Producing the full Premier League fixture list for 2018/19 is no random draw.

It is the result of a meticulous and painstaking process that lasts almost half a year and involves the scheduling of 2,036 matches across the top four divisions in England.

The man behind the list is Glenn Thompson, of Atos, a veteran compiler who has collated about 60,000 matches since taking on the role in 1992. He explains how the list is compiled.

When does the work on the next season's fixture list start?
Glenn Thompson: At the start of the year. That's when I get the playing dates from the Premier League.

The whole thing is built up putting in the international dates from FIFA, then the European club competitions, then the Football Association adds in the dates for its competitions and what you are left with are the dates when you can play league and League Cup matches.

What is "sequencing"?
That's the methodology we use which is all about breaking the season down into a number of constituent parts, which are called sets. We break it down into five sets, which are reversed in the second half of the season.

Are there any rules you have to adhere to?
There are the "golden rules" of sequencing. In any five matches there should be a split of three home fixtures, two away, or the other way around.

Wherever possible a club will not have more than two home or away matches in a row, and will be home and away around FA Cup ties.

We will also strive to prevent any club from having to start or finish the season with two home or two away matches because it would be unfair for a team to finish with two aways, especially if they are looking for points.

Around the Christmas period, if you are at home on Boxing Day you will be away on New Year's Day, or the equivalent date. And we will also try to maintain a Saturday home-away sequence throughout the season wherever possible.

Do clubs from the same area play at home on the same day?
Most clubs will have a partner club they cannot clash with. There are the obvious ones – Manchester United and Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton – and then when you get into London it gets a bit more complex and less obvious.

What happens next?
Around March, the Premier League sends to each of its member clubs a form asking them to fill in three things: 1) Are there any dates you wish not to be at home? That is answered in conjunction with the local police. 2) Which club do you want to pair with? 3) Are there any teams you do not wish to play at home on Boxing Day?

Can you satisfy all of the requests?
From looking at the sequence we know how many of these dates we can meet. When we can't, the Premier League will ask the club which of the requests are most important.

We cannot accommodate everything but, on average, we satisfy higher than 85 per cent every year.

Happy with that. Should be an easy start to the season, and our fixtures are favourable around Christmas when the congestion kicks in.

Tricky last three games but we will have the title wrapped up by then.

Two of the top six are from Manchester and three are from London so I think that probably helps keep them part to some extent.
