I think I prefer the current wildly inconsistent reffing to VAR - that dickhead in the studio saying it was a red. You get a jobsworth like that on the replay and you're just as fucked as you are with a hopeless PL ref.

Porto never really had a sniff. Got the impression we were more concerned with making it 2-0 than 3- which is exactly the right mentality. I still think not giving the Mané goal was harsh. But I really can’t see them turning that over now.

Thought Salah would have went down for his chance one v one. The tackle from Torres i think pushed him out wide. Many other strikers would have went down

Important was the result at whatever Spurs call their new ground. (New WHL??). Cities confidence will have taken a hit. I know what I want to win and yeah it's both but given a choice, I'd be champs of England. Tonight will give them doubts.

Brilliant from Fabinho, Keita and Henderson. Milner did well defensively but we definitely missed Robertson.

How fucking annoying was Marega though. Opposition players barely have a shot each at Anfield and he must have had 5+. Contrary to some here I don't think Lovren looked that comfortable either.

Tie is far from over. 2-0 might feel a bit disappointing because we scored both goals within half an hour and our last year record against them seems to create some sort of weirdly high expectation. Not conceding was crucial.

Good stuff. 2-0, no injuries, no cards.

Porto went full bottom half EPL side in that second half, just getting 10 men behind the ball and crowding us out. They were more adventurous in the first half - as they'll need to be in the second leg - and we got behind them quite easily. Robbo being back will be great as well as Milner struggles for anything other than a floaty cross with his left foot.

If Marega could have made more of what were mostly half chances at best it could have been a different matter but his record suggests he's not that great a finisher in general (2 in 19 for Mali) despite his excellent movement.

Another reasonably comfortable win. We made the game look quite easy even though they had their moments.
