Hahaha......and there was a Manc on the radio saying how great it was seeing Pogba running back to make a tackle and seeing them score.........obviously in denial that they’re 19 points behind!!!
How the mighty have falllen when a tackle is the highlight of your season!!!!

The man is a genius at managing expectations  ;D
It's a nice little pressure-building dig at City, too.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

Although he didn't do much in this game - being able to bring on a striker like Sturridge, just to give the opposition something new to think about, is a big advantage for us this year. The midfield options are just brilliant. I remember a time, after Xabi and Mascherano left, when our midfield consisted solely of Steven Gerrard. If he came off - we were basically fucked. Now we have so many options. Lovren has been solid for a while now, but really cementing his status in the last couple of games. Fabinho will be a star player for us for many years to come. So many positives all over the pitch. This without even mentioning the obvious stars in VVD, Robbo, Trent and the front 3. Just positives all over the entire squad.

We score from broken set pieces because ALL the set pieces are fucking broken.

This is a bad opionion. You made a bad opinion mate.

Lovely set pieces the last few weeks, and for most of the season. People are remembering one game where we hit a lot of corners to the first man (deliberately) and letting it bias their judgement badly

Our defence is fucking mental.

I mean, seriously, on current form, we're the best side on the planet at the minute, surely? That's not even hyperbole or biase.
Yep. Goals conceded by the leaders of the other European leagues:

Barcelona: 19
Dortmund: 18
Juventus: 10
PSG: 10
Porto:9
PSV: 8
Liverpool: 7

Thou shalt not pass.

Apologies if already posted:
Jürgen Klopp on the cheer inside Anfield when news filtered through about Leicester's 2-1 win over Man City: "I thought it was for us. I thought 'that's nice,' but then I was told afterwards it was for a different result. Obviously nobody told our crowd that Tottenham won 5-0."

Another excellent win reds. Worried a little bit that we only went in 1-0 against probably the worst side at Anfield this year,

Did you miss the United game last week?  ;D ;D Newcastle were not even the worst team at Anfield in the last fortnight it was that shower up the east lancs

Lovely performance, we patiently played them around until we found gaps. A little too slow in the first half and came out a bit more uptempo in the second, but all round excellent, could have had many more goals.

Great finish from Lovren, really well taken. A few strikers could learn from that.
Again, whole team played well. Trent struggled a bit in the first but grew into the game. Shaq's influence grew on the game too. That little flick in the first half between the defenders legs would have been incredible if it had had a couple of feet more space before he keeper.

VVD and Lovren were fantastic, as was Henderson. Fabinho when he came on looked great.
Mane was so close to scoring or getting on the end of a through ball so often, he deserved a goal.

Ref was bizarre, gave free kicks that were never fouls and didn't give free kicks for blatant yellow cards! Also looked like between him and the lino they must have got about 20 % of the throw-ins wrong too!

Fantastic win. Now on to beat Arsenal.

Another one ticket off. Not sure how we didn't go into HT 3 or 4 up but at least we finished with 4.

Otherwise, it's a perfect day, 7 ahead of City with their GD advantage wiped out. Shame spurs won but I think they were always odds on to win well at home to Bournemouth.

Onto Saturday and another 3 points to work hard for.

Some clubs were always destined for greatness...

It's mental. It really is. Even spurs and city's record is incredible but there we are 6 points ahead. It's mad. I hate the waiting tv though. A whole 3 days we have to wait to see this team play again seems a bit unfair

Simply having a wonderful Christmas time!  ;D

What a performance again! They never looked like causing us problems, just total control, another clean sheet and relentless attacks.

Honestly cant wait to get back to Anfield on Saturday and then on to next Thursday where we wipe City out of the title race! Come on redmen!

Savour every moment lads  :scarf

Yes. Except for today when I went home with a smile on my face and celebrated with pints number 6 and 7.

You're not convincing me mate, our corners are absolute dog shit. Gary Macca occasionally swung in a goody, but apart from that they've been utter gash for decades. The last three years have been even worse if anything.

Today, though ,was a good day, and you will not ruin  the moment for me.

1st live Liverpool match for me after 40+ years as a fan from thousand miles away. Was with my 16 year old. Fabulous day for both of us - great result, machine-like confident performance with 4 goals to top it all. Newcastle have no chance. We are just too bloody good on this form. Fantastic to chant “ Libpool, Libpool ... Top of the League” on Boxing Day

This is going to be a great ride and we should all enjoy it!

I can’t get my head round what I was trying to say  ;D

We’ve conceded 7 and the next best defence has 15 so let’s say the team with the next best defence has conceded more than twice as many goals as us.
Yip Chelsea with 15 goals conceded in 2004/05- breaking Liverpool's record of 16 goals conceded under Sir Bob in 80/81, I think (although the league was 42 games long then). We pissed the league that year without breaking sweat! :)

We were really something else back in the day. We don't realize. That was when a league was 42 games long and a win was worth 2 points. City couldn't even dream of being that good!

We'll take that record back, thanks!

What's amazing is that at no point during 1-0 did I think we'd need a second goal to win the game. I wanted a second just because I wanted to beat these more than 1-0, but I was completely calm in the fact that as soon as the first goal went in I was sure we'd win. We're that good defensively.

Without doubt the highlight of the game was the moment Alisson had to come running out, scrambles at the edge and on the outside of the box, reds fretting, the defence bombing back in to have two on the line, one on the 6 yard box, the midfield closing in and pressuring the lad as he dummied and then got a shot away and all that pressure and bodies, allowed Alisson time to get back in his box and make a save, fucking beautiful.

The will and the want to not concede is of the likes I don't think I've ever seen from a Liverpool team before.

Very efficient.  I was surprised Klopp went full strength with minimal rotation but I'm confident he has it all mapped out (maybe rotation against Arsenal who also went full strength today?  Maybe just gun it as it's a comparatively light schedule compared to our fixtures in September and October?).

Soft penalty but we're so overdue one at Anfield.  Daft from Dummett to grab Salah's arm even if only momentarily.

Haven’t watched the game but wow... really convincing by the sounds of it. And that gap... wow. Unreal.

Let’s just keep the pressure on and ride this wave for as long as we can.

Think it’s pedal to the metal as it should be. Rotation and rested players for the FA Cup game. There’s probably enough rest in between the games we have in the period to just go all guns blazing, at least, enough rest Relative to the team we’ve faced this month. We also conserved a lot of energy earlier in the season for this very month of fixtures. So far so good, but 2 massive games coming up. 6pts from those and we’re firmly entrenched in this title charge.

I think the biggest difference between this and previous challenging seasons is how easy we seem to be making it look.  We're in the lead at a canter so far.  No gut busting, no straining; no panicking over injured players and thinking it could derail our season.

In the past there has always been an anxiety, a gnawing doubt, a worry about what we might do to mess it up or what could go wrong.  I'm not thinking like that now.  I'm a believer!

I just hope this starts to permeate the rest of the league so our opponents start wilting early on.  They've seen if they fight City they can get something; with us, they fight and still lose, so maybe they'll start saving their energy for other matches.
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.

Fuck the 4, the 0, is where its at.

Yeah turning into a team of miser's giving away nowt! Team after my own heart.  :P
