Wow Johnny. I thought I was being an arsehole of a pessimist, but you have me beat - and Liverpool beat, for that matter.

If we drop the 7 points you believe, we will probably end up third.

Third? Luxury. In my day you were relegated before the season started and you didn't have any players in your team...if you were LUCKY.

Keep that red line straight until the end and we'll win the league, barring a miracle finish from City. This thread is good for my sanity.

We're not winning the league. We're going to go on a 3-game losing run now, City will catch up, and we'll spend the rest of the season hoping against hope that they slip up, which they won't. It was a good run while it lasted.

For Fowler Sake, I hope you are fishing a bit here.  Any more I am not so sure about what I read.

Just in case you are not.  You are telling me that after losing 1 game in 27 (closely contested) that we are going to lose 3 in a row (and two at home) to these three below?

Watford Home
Everton Away
Burnley Home

I hope you are pulling my taffy....  as I strongly disagree here.

Other than this small issue, I hope you are well PoP!   ;D

I am so susceptible to being whoosed,

it's an odd combination of total gullibility, unwillingness to read more than I post, and the tuning too much into the current bedwetting.

Losing the next three would right the freak stat of one loss in 27. Four losses in 30 seems about right, no?

Going for the double?

Whoosh me once shame on me.  Whoosh me twice, I'll have to support Everton.

Thanks JCB. In terms of testing the model the ones to watch are Southampton,  Everton, and Brighton. All three have very different positions in real life.

Somone mentioned we had 10 wins and 1 draw last season from the remaining 11..
They were obviously played at different times during the season, but hope we can improve on that.

I'm pretty sure they meant we got those results in the reverse fixtures this season.

Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 0
Spurs: -5
United: -11
Chelsea: -12
Arsenal: -12

Matchday 28:

Liverpool: 5 Watford (H) (Win 5, Draw 3, Lose 2)
City: 0 West Ham (H) (Win 0, Draw -2, Lose -3)
Spurs: -5 Chelsea (A) Par 1 (Win -3, Draw -5, Lose -6)
United: -11 Palace (A) Par 1 (Win -9, Draw -11, Lose -12)
Chelsea: -12 Spurs (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)
Arsenal: -12 Bournemouth (H) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)

Liverpool and City both need wins to avoid causing huge stirs in the title race. Anything but a Spurs win essentially puts them out of a title race, that they were never really in, for good. Chelsea and Arsenal need to win to keep the pressure on United for top 4. United have the chance to gain some APLT ground with a hard away trip to Palace.

Current APLT numbers:

Spurs: -5 Chelsea (A) Par 1 (Win -3, Draw -5, Lose -6)

Interesting to see how it plays for the top 4 wanna-bes.

I know that in theory it means we have an easier run-in, but I am bricking it a bit about the sheer amount of wins left if we're going to play to par to the end of the season. Eight wins from ten games. Woof.

Six wins, four draws. Of course, they're five points behind us in this, so they might have to do more than 'just' play to par anyway.

Current APLT numbers:

Liverpool: 5
City: 0
Spurs: -6
United: -9
Chelsea: -12
Arsenal: -12

Matchday 29:

Liverpool: 5 Everton (A)  Par 1 (Win 7, Draw 5, Lose 4)
City: 0 Bournemouth (A) Par 1 (Win 2, Draw 0, Lose -1)
Spurs: -6 Arsenal (H) Par 3 (Win -6, Draw -8, Lose -9)
United: -9 Southampton (H) Par 3 (Win -9, Draw -11, Lose -12)
Chelsea: -12 Fulham (A) Par 3 (Win -12, Draw -14, Lose -15)
Arsenal: -12 Spurs (A) Par 1 (Win -10, Draw -12, Lose -13)

Big chances for both Liverpool and City to gain APLT ground this weekend. Liverpool with the slightly harder game but a win would preserve at least a 5 point gap on the APLT with the possibility of extending it further. Spurs need a win at home to Arsenal to halt their downward trajectory and stop themselves getting dragged in to a fight for the top 4. Chelsea and United have par 3's which as top 4 hopefuls are must wins. Arsenal need to beat or draw against Spurs or could start falling too far behind United.

Am I right in thinking we have to play Spurs and Chelsea before we're done for the season?

And are they both home games? In that case that's a definite loss of par points right there.

Yes, we have Chelsea and Spurs at home. Real potential slip ups there.

I look at City and ManU away and Spurs at home are their only tricky matches. I can really see them making up ground on the APLT.

The only thing in our favour is City are still in 3 competitions while we're in 2.
