125.2 Minutes per goal with a good return so far. Great to have some dangerous options to call on to break the deadlock in Shaq and Sturridge, will be so important to keep the attack fresh as the season runs on.

“I’m not surprised,” said Shaqiri of the shots tally. “We know Manchester United plays defensively, they aren’t going to have a lot of ball possession and it was important to play with high intensity, to press them high, to have the second balls and play forward fast to try and create a lot of chances."

He knows.

He sounds so self-confident and positive in that broader interview!  Some players can occasionally stray into the delusional but with his technical ability and game intelligence it's great that he's backing himself as he can be such a decisive player for us.

The only nagging doubt for me - and it's not based on anything he's said or remotely hinted at - is how long he will be happy to be a fringe player when his form is so good.  I guess the longer we keep winning and progressing the longer it will last, so let's just keep winning...

I think more "fringe" in that he seems to drop to the bench when we take on the bigger clubs; Arsenal, PSG, Napoli, United in recent weeks.  It's sensible that we sacrifice the fourth attacker in favour of an extra midfielder for those games but at the moment it's him who's the one that sits out.  Again, I'm not saying it's wrong as Salah, Firmino and Mane is such a good front three but he seems like the type who'd love to be at the heart of those game.

Sorry for inadvertently putting a downer on this thread  ::).  Nothing to substantiate that he's even remotely bothered...

I don't think he would be a certain starter in any top four team though, so he would have to take a step down in terms of team quality if that's his number one priority. But if that was the case, it would be pretty dumb to sign for a club featuring Salah on his favoured position. Nah, he knew what he was doing.

I guess you never want top class players being happy with being on the bench.  Its what makes them determined to succeed.

And thats why it takes a certain personality of a manager to make sure all his squad feel included and play their part - we've the perfect manager for that role.

Doesn't do any harm winning too.......everyones happy!!

He might be a lot like Sturridge, in that he's had a stint outside of a club competing at the top,
and is happy this time around to be involved, even if at the time he might not be an automatic starter.

Discussion on TAW about him yesterday was very good. He's a very intelligent player, and you can tell by how he plays and his interviews. The "brainless potshotter" tag was due to the context of his Stoke situation.

His touch and sheer technical ability are outrageous. He's in the perfect situation here, with a great manager who suits him. You can tell he's buzzing, too.

Regardless of any context, it was a bit of a lazy tag. He averaged 1.2 shots per game from outside the box for Stoke last season, which was no more than the likes of Pedro, Matt Ritchie or his former team-mate N'Diaye, none of whom would be associated with excessively shooting from range.

In 2015/16, when Stoke were actually pretty good and finished ninth (sandwiched between us and Chelsea), he wasn't even in the top 40 players in the league in terms of shots from outside the area per game. There's a direct correlation between his team's reliance on him and this figure: it's very high for Switzerland for example.

I think the best thing he brings is unpredictability. Most players look for other players to pass to, whereas he usually looks for the space for them to run into, and then passes it there. He plays with his head up, and you can see he's always looking for the opening and something different, and to unsettle and stretch the opposition.

Players like him also encourage others to make those runs and find that space, so its 'win win' having him on board and slotting into Klopp's template so seamlessly.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

I was chuffed when we got him, and he hasn't disappointed at all. He's exactly what we've been missing all these years, as evidenced against United. A player who can come on and change a game but one that also wouldn't look out of place in our starting XI as well. He's done well everytime he's been on the pitch for us. He's already played a big part this season, and I think his influence will become even bigger.

If anything I want him taking more shots. At Stoke he was low volume high conversion rate with his long shots and it would be great to see him bending a few in, I know he got Salah a tap in against Soton. He’s done it enough times over the years for us to know it’s in his game. He’s used the threat of that shot to create so much though and he really is a star. His mentality to change his game from his Stoke days has been great.
