Do we risk him v villa if he doesn’t get booked versus Spurs

I wouldn’t myself. He’s crucial to us now and want him versus City

Naby's performance and Ox's goals rightly getting most of the midfield attention tonight, but I though Fab was fab (as usual). Just pretty much his normal performance at this point though.

Love how he laughs and smiles all innocent at the ref after a foul  ;D

Absolutely I thought he was fantastic. Its not just his defensive work but his passing forward is excellent.

Indeed. So far he has struggled with 3 games in a week. He is nailed on to play against Spurs but after that he wont play against Arsenal and I doubt he plays against Genk at home either.

Agreed. With the form Grealish and McGinn are in it'd still be a blow to lose him v Villa, but at least we would have him for City and the foreseeable future. Hopefully he can pick up his next five a little slower  ;D

How does his Yellow card situation stack up? Can he get one and still be ok for City?

If Fabinho becomes so indispensable to the way we want to play, wonder how we will reshuffle when he's not around? I remember Rafa's teams looking significantly less solid without Mascherano. Anyway, Fab's going to need a break now and then.

When we lost to City in January, our midfield were Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum. Now Fabi is the permanent fixture

He's a lot better imo. The only thing he lacks is Mascherano's pace, but he makes up for it with better positioning and he's far superior on the ball.

Would he then be suspended for Arsenal, or is it just the league and he would miss Villa?

The 2011 version was pretty good, up until his injury.

He was but only for a short amount of time. Fabinho has been brilliant in a league winning Monaco team and a CL winning Liverpool team. There really is no contest between them two.

The difference now is that Henderson is capable of filling in that role when Fabinho is unavailable. When Masch didn't play in those days the drop off in quality was quite drastic without there being a remote like for like replacement.

Milner can’t anymore. He doesn’t have the mobility. Ok I guess it depends on the opponent.

At a push I feel. It's Fab > Gini > Hendo >> Milner for me.

Rather not. I'd rather he does his job against Spurs and not try to get booked. There's a bigger ban if/when he hits 10 yellows so I'd rather he stretches it out. He should miss the villa game regardless of the outcome cause he's absolutely essential against City.

Milner can play any position for us and he wouldn't be awful. All that said, hendo and Gini are more natural in the #6 role in a pinch.

Completely agree. He's become an archetypal '7/10' type player, putting in those performances week in, week out to the extent that you almost take it for granted - it feels like a noteworthy event when Fab makes an error - except in his case it's more like 8 or 9 out of 10. He's a one man platform for dominance.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.

Nah
It’s the best option we’ve got. He started last season in great form, playing that role behind Keita and Milner, and he’s done so this season too in the one league game that Fabinho was rested in.

Big caveat being:

Quote from: Klopp
It must be a very dominant game, by the way, but he can play that.

I guess Klopp means dominant to the point that the opposition can't even muster the occasional break.  He wasn't wholly convincing against MK Dons but he is so classy on the ball and very press resistant.
