Think it's a brilliant transfer, adds quality to our back-line, but there's definitely questions as to whether our defensive issues is a matter of personnel or a matter of system.

I was thinking that too. VVD won't be available until Everton in the cup which Karius will play in anyway. It's somewhat likely that VVD won't be starting  straight after that, either, what with the emphasis we put on getting acclimatised to our training. Regardless delighted to have him, he's exactly what we need and superb in attack, too. His free-kick skills are immense too!

I really hope people give him time. He's hardly played since January and didn't have a proper pre-season. The fee is hefty, but clearly part of that seems to be due to the acrimonious nature of the way the transfer was made public in the summer

The media/rival fans will be all over this guy's every mistake because of the fee, but I'm hoping he'll be a Rio Ferdinand (£30m in 2002) signing for us, solid 7-8/10 every single week for the next 8-10 years. Very happy that we've put our money where our mouth is. Welcome Dick van Dijk!
