Phil was just the Pete Best anyway.

Still got The Big Three, another Liverpool band from the 60s.

Think we might all have to accept the possibility that we might not get a true replacement until summer.

This will ultimately look like a transitional season in hindsight, bedding in a new defence, looking at a new midfield and new attack.

Doesn't mean we can't still win something though.

t's a joke if we don't get a replacement in this window. We could have won the CL this season. Now we have weakened ourselves for that competition. Don't think we will ever get an easier draw to the QF of the Champions League.

So I guess you have missed that Pearce is saying the club believes Lallana and Ox are good enough to fill the void the rest of the season and no replacement will be brought in.

The Echo has an article saying we're moving to get in Lemar.

I'm glad it's over and done with to be honest. We need to look forward now, at how we can strengthen an already good team, and look to improve with what we already have.
I don't think we'll miss him as much as people think. I am sad to see him go though, a player I always enjoyed watching. And there aren't too many of those around.

Who else is going to score from free-kicks or outside the box though?

I’ve not seen much of Lemar, but surely he would be more of a gamble than Mahrez? Saying that Mahrez is 27 next month, and Lemar has just turned 22, big difference there.

Did she say 'take it in your stride'? I know she used to.

I'll know once she has her teeth in..

My favourite player since Barnes. I'm mostly gutted at the timing of this. As a club, they disgust me with their carry-on and I'd have taken great pleasure in simply pointing phils contract and telling play or not, you're going NOWHERE until summer. Make those c*nts dance to our fiddle. I especially hope that we aren't sitting here bemoaning how we've been robbed again because he plays an absolute blinder that'd warrant a £180m fee...

He acting his injury, yeah?

This whole situation is very upsetting for me. After Luis I said to myself that I would not get too attached to a player but it is still sad to let go of such a important player. It is important to value them while they are at the club. We will get a massive fee for him but the memories are priceless.

He’s range specialist. The sorry truth is a player looking for a move performs out their skill prior to the move, usually a career best. They all done it come on... Phil last season ( and into this to really push it for January ) Alonso, Suarez. Even dare I say it Stevie (however he is an absolute legend and thank god he changed his mind, the last true club player maybe) when we won the champions league. That was even announced if you remember, if only for a change of heart on the 11th hour.

Phil is replaceable, I think Trent could have a good shout at midfield in a season or 2. We need someone with skill on free kicks, Henderson be my first option...

For me now is what happens to Firmino? He has 2 + years on his contract ideally we are talking to him about a contract extension but with his best mate gone now our club must show him, salah plus fans that we can recruit players & continue improving.Question does firmino jave a release clause in his contract?

  • Up the piss boiling, asthmatic Reds!!!
Hard not to be disappointed, given his form.

But, if it had been early in the Summer, I'd have bitten their hand off. Yes, Phil like Mane had been in fine form up until December, but then he was injured and took forever to come back to form; culminating in a three and half month absence before beginning to show the form which had made up most of his early season.

It would have been a world class fee for a player that wasn't pumping out world class figures.

Maybe he'll been ineffective for the rest of the season, much like last and I'll feel better about it. If we had the Mane of last season, which I believe is where Phil looks his best and bought a quality midfielder I'd probably care a lot less.

But, in my disappointment I can't believe that Jurgen didn't ok this and I believe Jurgen has the interests of the team and the club at heart. Now, I very much doubt Phil was kicking off but I suspect he was a miserable bastard at the club as he appeared to the fans when he was on the pitch. The very opposite of Jurgens demeanor and you suspect the atmosphere which he attempts to generate and believes is conducive to success.

So, he fired the gun.

At what cost? Who knows. It might be top four, it might not. But, it's difficult to believe we wont be a worse team for the time being without Phil.

But, does it matter? If it gives Jurgen the environment he wants? Maybe it's idealistic and it just opens the way for other players to leave by throwing strops but again do you want such c*nts at your club. Maybe, it's the way it is now but then Virgil suggests otherwise.

I dunno, maybe it's having watched Kenny and a nostalgia for how it used to be, but if it's a manager trying to instill a certain atmosphere then so be it; he has to go. As an aside, having just watched Kenny, I believe he would have drop kicked Phil out of the club without a moments hesitation.

So, fuck you Phil and walk on Jurgen.

Even if we don't finish top four.

To say I'm pissed off at the club is an understatement. To think we just made a huge stride forward only to shoot ourselves in the foot the very next week.

Just don't see how this helps us in any way. Not sure how we can replace him at such a crucial stage of the season and get that player to contribute immediately. Just hope the club have sorted 1 (or 2) purchases already (rather than just speculation about Lemar/Mahrez). I believe we have caved way too soon. Obviously it now puts more pressure on Salah & Mane to stay fit and in form for the rest of the season.

Still, every chance of dumping them out the CL with him sat in the stands.
Some clubs were always destined for greatness...

Still we are in a much better position than when Coutinho and Sturridge came in the winter of 2013. Looking back that must be our greatest transfer window of the PL era. And we did come close to winning trophies with them, just needed a bit more luck which almost every team needs to win.

Hopefully this fuels Klopp and the club on even more so to get the glory we all crave. Prove everyone wrong.

The Guardian are saying the whole fee is £142m (£106m plus a further £36m). £26m in add ons are pretty much nailed on, so that's at least £132.
