Leipzeg and Keith being stuffed 3 nil at home by 10 men, Hertha Berlin have had 10 men since the 7th minute, shocking performance by RB.

2-3 now mate.

Good analysis of his key strengths here. He's gonna be great for our midfield, some tenacity, intelligence and dynamism we've been lacking for years, perhaps even since Gerrard's peak days. No pressure or anything ;D

Good now all we need to do is get that Xabi replacement and we are set. :)

Do you think Keita will just replace Phil in that midfield three then? Then go with Salah, Mane and Bobby up top?

Think we need another if Phil goes, maybe lemar and a number 6. He looks like he'd be a perfect fit for our press but the issue we've had is breaking down buses when there's no players to press. Will Keita's ball carrying ability prove useful there against essentially a brick wall.

The only concern here would be that Lemar still has a fair way to go before he is at Phil's current level.. Plus the time needed to adjust to a new league.. Personally I would use some of the 70 mil (probably needed to buy Lemar) and give it to Phil and bump him up to 220,000 per week instead of the 150,000. But i guess its not as simple as that..

Oh and this lad Naby Keita is gonna be immense for us..

I see the following gaps to address if we want to be competitive and even then we may need an orchestrator in midfield as Keita isn't really a play maker in my opinion.

2 x new centre backs (lovren and Klavan)
1 x #6 (Can)
1 x left back (Robertson)
1 x centre forward (replace Sturridge)
1 x attacking midfielder (coutinho)
1 x goalkeeper (mignolet)

lol dafuq

1 CB would leave us with Matip, New CB, Lovren OR Klavan and Gomez
1 #6 would be the orchestrator - we have enough midfielders now. We just need better ones
Robertson? Are you tripping?
1 centre forward - we have Solanke, Origi and Ings if you don't like Sturridge
1 AM - Agreed, if Coutinho leaves
1 GK - Nope

Lol, we are a good side but the team is nowhere near good enough to win a league title, so my post refers to what I think we are missing in that context, I think anyone who just thinks we need a few tweaks is crackers-

We’ve had the exact same flaws in that we’ve had the weakest spine out of any of the teams who want to contend, and we’ve been consistent at dropping points against weaker sides which points both to a lack of quality (to make a difference) and mental strength.

Matip is a good player but injury prone and backs down when he’s got a physical opponent , Klavan and Lovren are just not good enough - so yes we do need 2 new centre backs with Matip and Gomez to make up our four.

Robertson is decent but hes definitely upgradable (he’s not going to win us a crucial game or make a major difference over a season)

#6 - Can is leaving, not Henderson’s natural position

Mignolet is much improved but still not at the level of the best keepers

Sturridge is injury prone, not the same player and doesn’t always work hard enough for the system

If Coutinho is sold we will need to replace his creativity and leadership

It may seem harsh but I honestly don’t see us winning a title without much better players- so we will not win a league title for a long time in my opinion as the resources aren’t there- in reality we will add a few good players but we will be a few steps behind because we have so many weaknesses and over the course of a season we get exposed, just look at our history over the last 10-15 years- ultimately we always lose out due to 3 things:

Depth of squad
Quality of players
Mental strength

Robertson's only just got going and getting a decent run of games and you already want to upgrade? What sort of fantasy football nonsense is this? Are you 12?
On Sterling:
Were spurs not happy to pay like £7-9m for him? I'd be giving Levy a call tonight to give him an option buy.
He's so over rated its ridiculous. Every time he plays he looks completely out of his depth and has done for about 9 months now.

Last time I checked, fullbacks don't win you games! We have enough players suitable enough to win us matches.

We need fullbacks to be solid and link play from time to time and I think we have that now.

Was Guardiola an idiot for spending £100M on Walker and Mendy? Full backs are basically auxiliary wingers in the modern game and they are often decisive factors

My bad. Apologies.

Keita does look like a fantastic player- I do think that we will need to play him as an 8 to get the best from him so interested to see how we balance the midfield as we are not at the same standard of the best teams in this section

Unlikely, especially as he’ll be cup tied for the Champions League. That being said, I think it’ll be better to wait anyway as we’ll be able to get him used to the league early on in the season. Hopefully he makes as quick an impact as Salah has.

Why would we need to replace Milner? With Keita arriving we'd have him, Wijnaldum, AOC and Lallana as 8's, plus Coutinho. More than enough.

no, Guardiola has an unlimited budget, allowing him to spend such ridiculous amounts on pretty much any player he wants. You can't use him as any sort of example as to what a normal club not owned by an oil rich country should do :D

Great idea that!

Is it?

Klopp isn't going to be drawn on transfer questions during this busy period, and after the VVD issues there's no way senior people in the club are going to sanction leaking genuine information to the press until after this block of games. And we won't be using the media as leverage except if it's approaching the end of the window (with VVD, for example).

Anything that happens early in the window will be relatively quick, I expect. The club know we have loads of shithouse fans who 'need' to be controlled, otherwise they meltdown like toddlers. They'll be quiet, and focus on under promising and over delivering.

What I'm trying to say is, there's fuck all to talk about and won't be until early January (if then). Still, might make this thread less of a shitshow

fair. thought we had him on a three year deal.

it was suggested we tried to loan him out in the summer and i think we will be looking to replace him next season.
