Another defeat for PSG tonight, they are so complacent. So frustrating this league, all season long PSG have been slipping up unexpectedly, but have always been just slightly too far ahead for there to be any real jeopardy. Now 5 points ahead of Marseille with 5 games left to play.

I hear Enzo Le Fee putin a rather sublime performance against them

Messi suspended for 2 weeks for missing training to go on an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia, which he was contractually obliged to do via his ambassadorial role (which pays him £26 million a year FFS).

Scum bags all round.

Add that to the stalled contract negotiation with PSG and it's a hop skip and a jump to Messi to Newcastle for 100k/week and his previously existing ambassadorial contract suddenly going from 26m/year to 75m/year.

This summer could significantly reshape how PSG act in the transfer market going forward. Messi definitely going. Neymar likely to go. A desire from the top to end lavish amounts of power and influence accorded to certain players. It could result in a shift similar to when Real Madrid ditched Galacticos for Golden Boy candidates

Wild game between Lyon and Montpellier. Lyon were 4-1 down and came back to win 5-4 with a penalty 9 minutes into stoppage time. Lacazette scored 4 and Lovren got the other. Some guy scored 4 for Montpellier aswell.

Not taken Lacazette long to become the leading scorer in Ligue 1 again  ;D

Thought he'd be a much better player for Arsenal than he ended up being, did join as they were on the slide, though. Had some good spells but never really got going to the best of his ability.

Hmmm. Not a local derby. Not the last minute of injury time with the game heading for a draw. No defender with a desperate sliced effort turning away in disgust (a deflected cross instead). No goalkeeper howler keeping the ball in play when it was going out for a goal kick. No goalkeeper falling on his arse when he would have otherwise been first to the ball bouncing off the bar. No double bounce off the bar either.

Other than that, an exact copy. ;)

Why? He’s not staying and he fucked off to Saudi Arabia. PSG are not a traditional sportswashed fan base, they get stuck into them. They had a passionate fan base long before Ibrahimovic and his chums arrived.

Honestly fan behaviour seems to be regressing in so many respects

Quote
Bordeaux’s attempt to win promotion to Ligue 1 is in jeopardy after their final match of the season was called off on Friday, when one of their supporters assaulted the Rodez goalscorer Lucas Buadés.

Bordeaux needed to better Metz’s result to finish second and secure promotion to the top flight, but the six-time French champions went behind in the 22nd minute. As Rodez players celebrated the goal, a supporter entered the pitch and shoved Buadés, who fell to the ground. He was later taken off on a stretcher as the referee stopped the game. After the teams went into their dressing rooms, the referee said the match would not resume, adding that Buadés had suffered a concussion.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), which governs French football’s top two tiers, said its disciplinary committee would meet on Monday to consider the appropriate action to be taken. The Bordeaux president, Gérard López, said they would lodge a complaint against the supporter and urged LFP to allow the game to be completed.

“I’d like to see this played out in sporting terms on the pitch, it’s still football,” he told reporters. “We’ll be present at the committee meeting on Monday and we’ll assert all our rights, as well as appealing if need be.”

The situation is complicated as Metz and Bordeaux were meant to play their matches at the same time. Metz beat Bastia 3-2 to move up to second, sparking wild celebrations and a pitch invasion. Bordeaux – who are three points behind – now know the goal difference they need to overhaul if the match is replayed. Only the top two teams will be promoted to Ligue 1 this season, and Le Havre have sealed promotion and been crowned champions.

The Rodez chairman, Pierre-Olivier Murat, was dejected as the club are fighting to preserve their second-tier status. As things stand, they are 17th, needing at least three points to leapfrog Annecy.

Ajaccio: French club 'strongly condemns' attack on boy with brain cancer at game with Marseille

French club Ajaccio has "strongly condemned" the "deplorable incident" which saw a boy with brain cancer abused by fans at Saturday's Ligue 1 match at home to Marseille.

Eight-year-old Kenzo, a Marseille fan, was invited to the game to meet the Marseille players.

But he and his family were "shamefully abused" and jostled in their box.

After the game, a journalist was attacked by Marseille supporters at a filling station near the stadium.

Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the incident, which left the France 3 TV journalist needing hospital treatment.

There was another incident of violence in French football on Saturday as promotion hopefuls Bordeaux's final Ligue 2 game of the season was abandoned after a Rodez player was attacked by a fan.

Ajaccio, based on the island of Corsica, are regional rivals of Marseille and their 1-0 win was played out in a tense atmosphere.

Kenzo and his family were guests of Air Corsica and wearing Marseille jerseys when spectators broke into their box.

Speaking to local newspaper Corse Matin, Kenzo's mother said his father was attacked and Kenzo's head hit a railing, while his shirt was ripped off and burnt, and they spat in the family's food. However, a member of fans group Orsi Ribelli says only the father was hit.

"These individuals in no way represent the values of our club and our island," read a club press release.

"Even the most extreme stupidity cannot excuse this behaviour. The club strongly condemns these unspeakable acts.

"AC Ajaccio will shed light on these shameful actions. As soon as the individuals have been identified by our services, we will file a complaint against them."

Ajaccio's chief prosecutor, Nicolas Septe, is also trying to identify those responsible for the attack on the journalist, who he said was "quite seriously injured although there is no risk to his life".

The mayor of Ajaccio, Stephane Sbraggia, said both incidents "point to a worrying loss of values".

Four men were arrested in Bordeaux on Saturday after Lucas Buades was assaulted just after scoring for Rodez. The French league (LFP) will meet on Monday to discuss the incident.

La Liga could reduce the amount of racist incidents in Spain's top flight in six or seven months if it had the "necessary powers", the league's president Javier Tebas says.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/65708470

Honestly, the Serie A and Spanish league while have good teams are still in 1990s. Hooligans, ultras, rowdiness still a thing. Stabbing peaceful away supporters. Hell even the French league is crap with the list of incidents on and off the field due to fans and even the Dutch are getting worse and worse as well with almost every gameweek a match is stopped by the fans.

The fans are a representation of the country for me. European football is falling and falling quickly.

Always found it a shit league to watch with the general style of play. Bayern spoil the Bundesliga even more but it's still good to watch otherwise.

PSG just don't give a shit in the league and know they'll probably win it anyway. They've been dross all season and still win it with games to spare.

A bit like Germany as well the other big clubs in France aren't as competitive as they should be. Marseille and Lyon rarely challenge these days and you've got Bordeaux in the 2nd division. Lille (twice), Montpellier and Monaco are the other clubs to win it since 2010.

I quite like the small-timeyness of it, it feels like it somehow means there’s a much wider range of possible outcomes there than in other leagues. It’s like a higher quality version of the Championship, in a way. But then you throw PSG in there and it usually turns into the Scottish league instead.

Even then there’s enough life in it to throw up that excellent Monaco team, or those thrilling Montpellier and Lille title wins. But PSG are just a wet towel over the whole thing.

PSG could be in trouble this season with goal scoring - if Mbappe goes, and the rumours are that they are looking at Kolo Muani from Frankfurt - then they'd lose 58 goals and 32 assists from Messi/Neymar/Mbappe, and replaced them with 2 attacking midfielders (Kang-in Lee and Dembele, who between them got 11 goals and 14 assists in La Liga), and a non-goal scoring strikers in Acensio never got more than 10 goals in a league season in his career!) and a 24 year old with barely 2 seasons of experience, who is not clinical and doesn't score huge numbers himself in Kolo Muani.  Oh and Ramos, who at least scored 19 tgoals last season in Portugal (his first season in the top flight, so could easily be an aberration) - but he is only on loan.

Really strange that he didn't play last season, seems perfect for the league and has some good attackers around him, looks like this season he's nailed a place down from the start and should continue on good form.

Lyon's Ligue 1 match at Marseille has been abandoned after the team's bus was attacked.

Lyon manager Fabio Grosso suffered a head injury as the team bus came under attack from fans throwing projectiles before the match.

The Lyon bus was hit on the way to Stade Velodrome, shattering some windows. Grosso was injured by falling shards of glass and needed medical treatment with his face heavily bleeding.

French ultras are mental. I went to Nice v Marseille the other week and some Marseille fan was in the home section and ended up getting twatted and spat all over.

Marseille is basically a country within France. Absolutely deplorable fans. A massive points deduction and playing behind closed doors for 10+ games should be on the cards.

But the dutch national fans are wonderful, loads of fun. Go figure.
