Yes it does for some. That's why Nagelsmann is coaching Hoffenheim this season instead of Leipzig

According to Mourinho mouth piece Duncan Castles , De Gea doesn't want to sign a new contract unless he gets wages on par with Sanchez .

De Gea still has 1 yearon his contract plus one year extention option so could pull a Courtios next summer.

I just don't see how they move forward with him in charge now.

Obviously I want him to stay forever and utterly ruin them. But unfortunately I think he'll be gone before long.

I'm a bit disappointed he hasn't signed a few more ageing 'stars' on huge wages, was hoping for a few more.

I know this is the pisstake thread, but if we're all honest, I think we'd admit we didn't give this gentleman of the game enough time. The signs were there that he was turning things around and FSG acted rashly to appease a tiny minority of our fans.

Hopefully, even though they are our rivals, I hope Woodward does the right thing and appoints Roy. It would be a fitting appointment and ease some of the discomfort I'm sure we all still feel.

How come?

Even if they do get someone like Zidane in, there's no guarantee that he'll do better than Mourinho.
There were a few stories about Zidane a while back. This week there has clearly been some briefing by Woodward to some journalists (not about Zidane) and Mourinho's reaction yesterday implies something happened.

They didn't back him in the summer. He clearly can't motivate half the players.

Zidane is used to working at a club where hierarchy above him do the recruiting. He clearly can motivate players.

Zidane makes a lot of sense for them.

If true this fun is gonna continue into next season too unless United miss out on top 4.

Probably because Spain expect him to do other things than just save shots. He's constantly being worked at Man U too, so he doesn't have to worry about maintaining concentration.

I'm convinced that is why Real pulled the plug (a club like Madrid does not fuck up a transfer like they supposedly did with his) and have not been back since. He is great for a defensive minded team, but cannot cope in expansive teams. He couldn't do what Alisson or Ederson do, standing around for ages doing nothing and then making the odd save.

I can see why he deserves a massive rise at Utd too. He is at one end winning them point after point while Sanchez is at the other end doing fuck all and laughing his way to a £100 million fortune.

We managed to convince the FA that Roy was wasted at a car crash Liverpool and should have the top job. As sad as it would be for Palace to lose such a successful and distinguished manager, he is being cruelly wasted there and, as hard as it is for us to accept, the United job is the perfect job for him and he is the perfect manager for them.

him and Pogba demanding wage parity with Sanchez. :lmao

Their wage structure is gonna get nuked.

Unfortunately, they are a financial behemoth. They can afford another 5 years of mismanagement, and still be insanely popular and offer a manager a big transfer sum to turn things around. Sadly, this isn't the 80's or 90's where 4/5 years of poor spending and bad management in succession can really damage a club of their size. They're basically too big (financially) to fail.

My hope is the next manager isn't Zidane/Pochettino/Allegri. Klopp or Guardiola would have already taken them back to the summit of the English and continental game with the wages they can offer, and the transfer fees they can spend. Till this season, Mourinho had outspent Klopp significantly, had taken on a more talented squad to start with, yet we progressed significantly more under Klopp.

They certainly have their issues, but all it takes is one smart manager and a summer of 3/4 good signings and they'll be right back in it. De Gea, Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Fred, Sanchez, Lukaku and Martial are very good footballers. A smart manager who actually is in tune with modern football would have them playing some quality stuff. Thankfully they have an absolute idiot managing them, and he's spent money poorly so that there are visible issues with their squad. Hopefully he wins a carling cup and scrapes 4th, so they give him more time. I wish Woodward had let him sign Maguire and Perisic - overpriced average players on huge contracts is exactly what we want for them. A few more years of dumb decisions and poor football, and suddenly it'll be United who haven't challenged for the league in nearly a decade, and basically and FA Cup and trophies no one gives a crap about to show for a billion quid spent.

What belongs to you, but is used by others?

Its quite hilarious to see United fans bring up Klopp's finals record while ignoring the context, how his sides were built with far less money than competitors (barring Sevilla), and had no right to even be in finals.

In general, the football fans "our manager has won more" stuff puzzles me. I love Liverpool FC, and want the club to succeed. I work 60 hours a week and I care about 2 things on the weekend - spending time with my girlfriend and my mates, and watching the football. What I care about most is watching good football for those 90 minutes. I like listening to an intelligent manager talking about the game, and a vision in place for improvement.

Football is a results oriented business, fair enough, but as a fan, I fell in love with this club because of the cracking stuff we played in 2001, the first year I followed football properly. I loved Gerrard's drive in midfield, Owen's pace up front. We entertained, and we won. Trophies are important, but selfishly, I just want a nice 90 minutes of watching quality football, supporting a team I have done since I was 8 years old.

I think the dick swinging and bragging rights are all well and good, but its all secondary to me. That's what I'm most grateful to Klopp for. We play entertaining football, and we win, more often than not, and he's taking the club I love places we haven't been to in a long time. He makes us happy. I think United fans have forgotten what that feels like. A big chunk of their fanbase picked the team in red who were always winning, and as such the glory-hunting idiots know nothing else. Football is certainly about winning, but that Cryuff fellow made a bit of sense when he talked about a duty to entertain. Klopp believes the same, that's clear. Fuck winning the carling cup and Europa league if we have to sit through dross every saturday. I'll wait and watch cracking football - the manger's a smart bloke, perhaps the best out there, and soon enough, we'll win something, and not some tin pot trophy, and not financed by some Sheikh playing football manager.
What belongs to you, but is used by others?

There's also context. Their manager took over cash rich Chelsea who could get whatever players for high prices he needed and more. Then he went to Inter who were not bad themselves before he went there and were one of the big clubs in the league. Juve were not around then as well which played into his hands. And then he went to Real Madrid and we know about their resources. Now, he's at Man United where for the first two seasons they got them quite a lot even without selling much.

Take Klopp's situations and he was at Dortmund and now at Liverpool where the sides are nowhere near the Top spenders in his league on an average during the entire tenure of him (you can't take one window in isolation, because the money was earned by selling previously), so whatever trophies he won and whatever finals he got to were against the odds. This context is never never seen in football in general, oh a manager won x and y trophies so he must be greater. You can watch football on the pitch, understand the game and tactics and know who's football is greater and that's obvious in this case.

Why do people say this, there are no trophies I don't care about and I hope the players care about them all too. Personally I'd love to win the fa cup this year.

Hodgson wrote this a while back

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well, can you put your hands in your head? Oh no!
I said, dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well, can you put your hands in your head? Oh no!

I said, "far out, what a day, a year, a life it is!"
You know, well, you know you had it comin' to you
Now there's not a lot I can do

Dreamer, you stupid little dreamer
So, now you put your head in your hands, oh no!

Not sure if it was the same Hodgson though

I would sooner win the Premier League or Champions League if I was honest.

Because everyone is bias. Truthfully it's a pretty shit feeling that we haven't lifted a trophy with Klopp. It does just mean that when we do win something. it's going to feel all the sweeter.

An FA Cup this season would be a tasty starter, agreed.
