Interesting.

Confirms Broad hasn't had a great summer and Bairstow not been as good as the last couple of years (although still decent for a 7!). Stokes and Ali are very fine All rounders.

Stokes gone, really not much in this unless Ali can shepherd the tail again.

First really pleasant weather of the Test now. These two need to cut out the mad shots and just play some sensible cricket. Better that we're out there using up what sunlight there is than the Windies being able to get 50 free runs before the clouds roll in again.

Forget I said anything. Broad out swinging like Zaheer; all out for 195 and a good lead in the circumstances of 71.

I suspect this Test will chiefly be memorable for Stokes' performance and, hopefully, Jimmy's 500th wicket.

It's certainly not been an even contest between bat and ball. Glad I don't have 5th day tickets.

I'll be genuinely surprised if this goes to Sunday now, in all honesty.

Quite possibly. It's all down to the weather. It looks a much easier track already in these opening exchanges, with the sun out.

2 balls out of every three are beating the bat... impossible batting conditions..

I'm not sure it's the fault of the curator. Pitch is a slow seamer with a bit of nibble which is fine. It's hooping because the weather has been filthy.

Nice that even though you might be following on TMS, you at least have the option of watching replays on the bbc site rather than waiting for the highlights show.

Well done Jimmy Anderson who was born very near Yorkshire.

Best quick bowler England have produced in my lifetime, for sure. Remember the coach who tried to change his action and make him look at the wicket through the delivery? Some time round 2004 I think. For a while it fucked him up, but that 500th wicket had Jimmy looking at his feet as he released the ball. The way he used to do it as a kid in the back yard probably.

Great stuff lad.

Agree entirely. Nonetheless the result has been an uneven contest between bat and ball.

The first one was more of a borderline mistake, but having lost that one, going for the second one that was far less likely was idiotic bordering on negligent.

He was great to watch, didn't always go on to make the big scores but very often got us off to a good start and scored at a quick rate too.

and he's already off again today.

don't think I'd ever seem him play before, but for a bloke who had 6 50+ scores and averaged over 40 in a pretty short career Chase has been pretty bad in this series.
