79' - Work the ball around for what feels like ages, eventually get it to the front and lose it fairly cheaply.

Argyle make another sub - two strikers on.

We're clearly trying to manage the game here but Argyle haven't given up and keep pressing.

83' - Ojo goes down in and around the box - I've seen those given. He's giving them a hard time.

Ojo earns a Yellow for diving :o

84' - Gomes and Woodburn with a great counter. Ball is worked forward the finds Ojo on the left. He takes a moment to compose his shot but can't get it through.

Ohhhhhhh, and now we do get a penalty.

Rash tackle on Moreno in the box

86' - Origi takes a poor pen and the goalie dives to his right and saves.

James needs to give these lads lessons in how to take a pen.

89' - The mercurial Moreno with an excellent tackle to rob the Argyle winger of the ball. Origi with brilliant work to get into a position to shoot but then blams it over the bar.

Over at the other end we have a momentary scare but the offside flag is up.

4' added.

91' - Loooooooooong throw in gets into the box and we clear. The ball ends up with the Argyle goalie who hoofs it back.

92' - Argyle pile forward and as go into the final minute we're being pressured.

We come away with the ball and Woodburn is fouled with 30 seconds to go

Had the feeling that’d be more of the same tonight as it was in the first game.

Put it in the archive under ‘games to never watch again’.

Still job done, with Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Hendo, Gini, Can, Lallana, Firmino, Mig and Matip (frustratingly) getting the night off.

And more great experience for those younger lads, and more minutes for Joe Gomez, so plenty of positives too.

Was it just me but the ref was just letting them grapple and take little swipes at our boys through the game, but any time one of ours got close, it was free kick.

Ben Woodburn has defo got something about him, thought he stood out above all others tonight, some very nice little moments and touches. Trent has some nice moments too, those 2 really do stand out for me above the other younguns', so far. Although Wilson didn’t look out of place either.

We won, some youngsters showed they can play.

The less said about the regulars the better.

Lucas scored to get us over the line, says it all.

Absolute turd of a game. Still, job done, stick it in the bin and move on.

Most enjoyable thing about that will the funeral atmosphere on BT afterwards.

Commentator "You've had to wait a long time since your last goal, 7 years!"

Lucas "Really, that long? I scored last week in training"

Never really looked troubled this evening, didn't have to work that hard either. Good to see the young lads get a decent run out.

Wins a win I suppose, not much else to say about this except Sturridge in particular was as off his game as I've ever seen him.

Glad we are through. Think the main problem second half was we was just too timid and wanted to constantly play the ball back to our defenders instead of opening up and going in the right direction but lots of youth out there today and they'll get braver the more they play.

Credit to the young lads, excellent management for an inexperienced side in a game that matters.  Fucking love that Lucas scored - wonder what odds you'd have got on that with Sturridge and Origi on the field.

Fair play to Argylle had a good go and looked soo much better playing football than parking their big green bus.  You have to wonder what drugs the ref was on though.

Hope we can do Wolves without having to resort to a replay!

Very disappointed with both Sturridge and Origi, great to see 9 non regulars on pitch at the end.
Like a bottle of wine the reds get better and better.
