Countinho fit though

If that XI was fit then a formation change wouldn't be needed surely?
Yes but in 4231 Can and Henderson could take shifts in making runs in to the box while in 433 Hendo as DM never does, plus if you push Gini forward a bit in his Newcastle role maybe he'll get more goals that way.

Dare i say i'm sort of nervous before this match for no good reason? And i was confident against Chelsea,City.
It's fucking Sunderland and Moyes, we are at home but i will calm only when we have 2-0 lead.

I don't want to worry you, but we have previously shown against Sunderland, a 2-0 lead may not be enough...

If we get an early goal or two, it will be a goal fest as Moyes un-parks his bus.

Doesn't Henderson cover a huge amount of ground in that holding role though? Maybe it would cut down on Can's sprints a bit but it just doesn't seem like a necessary change.

It's difficult to guess what the formation would be, If Coutinho is fit and at least one of Mane and Firmino are too then we don't really need to swap at all. All I can think is that our box to box players (Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana) are a bit depleted and so we need to go with a 4-4-2 or something, maybe 4-2-3-1 with Firmino behind Origi and two of Henderson/Lucas/Can/Grujic holding.

Sturridge out injured then. I'd probably just stick with what we had last week to be honest. Just give Gini more freedom to get forward because he showed all across his career he can get goals from midfield and lots of them.

If not that then I'd maybe take Gini out - rather than Can because Emre can offer more defensive cover - and move Phil back in to midfield and then put Origi up top with Bobby left.

That said I'd definitely go with option one first. Why move Firmino from a position he has been great all season. Why move Coutinho out of a position where he has been scoring goals and making assists for fun. Stick with what has been working and that front 3 works brilliantly. If we need something different later in the game then bring Origi on at 60.

I secretly want to see that as well. Origi is 6'3 and has pace to burn, Moyes would have to change a few things to his game plan if Divock made the starting line up.

Klopp ponders Liverpool formation change over injury fears

Lallana definitely out and boss says others are "struggling" ahead of Sunderland clash

I don't know about you guys but sound like klopp just threw a spanner into the works.

most teams will have likely seen us play 4-3-3 and would prepare their line up and tactics to stifle our play. But suddenly our manager says we would change our formation. This would keep the opposition manager guessing and actually sow the seeds of doubt on how to actually defend and play against us.

Moyes being Moyes would definitely love to take a point. Feels like victory to him.

This park the bus teams kind of pisses me off but to become champions we would have to find a way to take 3 points against this kind of teams and tactics and the more practice we get against this kind of teams the more adept we will be in finding a way to break them down.

Liverpool fans braced for months of futile optimism

LIVERPOOL fans are gearing themselves up for six months of ultimately pointless optimism.

Once again Merseyside is confident the team can clinch the title, only not quite.

Liverpool fan Nathan Muir said: “I really believe that this season we can do it, but won’t do it.

“I can see us going all the way, three points clear with two games to go, only to lose to Watford at home after Mignolet throws the ball into his own net with no player near him.

“This is what Liverpool Football Club is all about. Passion. Heart. Desire. The shirt. Wanting it more than the other team. Wanting it so much you become paralysed with fear at the thought of not getting it.”

Muir added: “We’re like a man who’s desperate to impress the woman of his dreams on a date, and it’s all going brilliantly until he vomits on her pudding.”
Quote from: tubby on Today at 12:45:53 pm

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

More of the same for this one!

Always love smashing Moyes's Boys....

Think they'll end up sitting quite deep, as they lack experience i think we can really pull them apart - just need our lads to be on song and i don't see anything but 3 points on this one.

Have to feel a bit sorry for Origi. Any other time over the past couple of years he'd have been on at least half a dozen starts in the league by now but there's no shame in not being able to force his way into this team with some of the players ahead of him.

At his age though he needs a bit more game time, be good to see himstart today.

diamond midfield with Firmino and Origi up front maybe?  I guess it all depends on who else is unable to play.

We will see how good our squad depth is today if there are multiple players out.  Already we will be without Lallana and Sturridge.

Yep. But the way we've been playing it's no shame he hasn't got many minutes. He'll get more gametime over the next few months with Mane off for a month.

Think he believed his own hype after the media built him up for so many years for doing not much with Everton. Man United was a massive reality check for him.

Yes, same team please and minimum change. Gini needs to get a bit bolder, that's all.

Milner as winger is an option. He was extremely productive there last year
