Just saw Mark Bright in crowd at United v Palace match. Doesn’t seem to be a pundit anymore but remains responsible for the worst piece of punditry I’ve ever heard.

Autumn 2008, Liverpool go to fortress Stamford Bridge and win an extremely tight match 1-0 with an Alonso goal. Liverpool were so well set-up and reduced Chelsea to long-range shots and poor crossing opportunities. A Rafa masterclass in an era when Chelsea were extremely strong.

Mark Bright: “I just think Liverpool were very negative. I think United or Arsenal would’ve gone there and put on a show”

Couldn’t believe how incredibly ungenerous he was...and stupid.

He absolutely detests us and embarrassed himself constantly every single time he was pundit on our games

If I recall, that was also Chelsea's first home defeat in 86 matches.

Know a father and son, both passionate Reds, not moaners or anything, both otherwise got their heads on straight. Neither think Bobby is good enough. Weird.

The lads on MOTD don't seem to understand how VAR works.

The VAR officials aren't asking was it a clear and obvious pen, they're asking was it clear and obvious to the referee. In other words, they're allowing the ref some leeway in being able to get it wrong. Just like before VAR.
It's like that to try and appease the VAR bashers, and keep out of the way as much as they can. They'll only over-rule the ref if they think it should have been clear and obvious to the ref.

I believe this is how it's being implemented in the PL at least. Possibly different in other leagues and UEFA comps? Unless I have it wrong.

To be fair to VAR, it can't actually do anything with that Villa goal because the referee had already blown his whistle, so the play was dead before the goal.

Just a case of Kevin Friend being utterly, utterly useless.

So now var will only correct decisions if the ref isn’t sure by never overturn a decision, problem the worst refs tend to be most arrogant thinking they are always right.

It's not how it works mate. The ref is there to ref the game as he normally would. He's not a VAR official.

VAR will only pull him up on something, if they think he's made a clear and obvious error. A foul might be a clear and obvious penalty to someone watching on a replay, but it might not be clear and obvious to the ref at the time. He's allowed to be wrong, he just can't be clearly and obviously wrong.
