We have a new Premier League leader yet again, but it looks like the third relegation spot will be settled by I am new's disappearance. MelwoodBoy needs to be careful, another two missed entries will mean automatic relegation, regardless of league position.

Official attendance: 25669 (https://www.premierleague.com/match/14369)

25669 / 6 = 4278 remainder 1

remainder + 1 = 2, so we use Round 2 (Round 16 before renumbering) of the fixtures at http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=322322.msg14717166#msg14717166

Premier League scores:

BoRed v Kopite1971 16-27

LMAO Well I'd rather he'd played a good pass to Sturridge or run it all the way in rather than what he did. Cost a difference of 15 points I think on the main league, though no difference on the premier league, rather than just the single point I gained on Buck Pete...:)

To be fair to him, Sturridge was offside. Still should have scored, though. :)

LEAGUE TABLE after West Brom

Only a 1 point gap at the top of the league but it could have been very different had Moreno been able to slot the ball into an empty net from 30 yards or passed it to someone that knows how to shoot. Buck Pete had 1-0, Kopite1971 had 2-0, so instead of holding a 1 point lead, Buck Pete could've been 13 points behind. Small margins. With the top 3 players scoring 26, 27, and 28, it looks to have cut a few people out of the running for the title with only 5 games left.

Ahem....

3am in GBR is 10pm here in the States.  Although, I did not give much consideration to the receiver.  Apologia simplicitus!

As far as the PM, I agree it was not the most sporting of suggestions.   Although in my defense, third place in the championship still has to face two other teams to get promoted in the real world.   Now, if I were Oldie, I'd be singing a different tune.

My hypocrisy knows no bounds....

God loves a trier mate  ;D

If you'd have suggested it back in September or October, the conversation could've been had. But definitely not with 6 games to go.

Anyway, the proposal was

Not Trying,

What do you and the lads say to how the Championship really do it with a bracket (1 & 2 automatically) with the last team promoted having to win two head to head games to progress (Oldie vs. Carrageriise and meself (Trend vs. Carrard)  ---  West Ham game and winners do the Boro?

Just want to make sure we are authentic to the process  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If not, no worries...

My answer to it would be that that type of system would be more suited to a competition like the RPLP, but in this type, not so much. Without looking at past seasons scoring totals, there's the possibility in your suggestion of someone in 3rd going into the 'play off' with 2 games to go - but then they end the season with a higher total after 38 games than the person in second after 36, only to lose out on promotion as they lost the play off. I don't think it would be fair in that scenario.

God loves a trier mate  ;D

If you'd have suggested it back in September or October, the conversation could've been had. But definitely not with 6 games to go.

Anyway, the proposal was

My answer to it would be that that type of system would be more suited to a competition like the RPLP, but in this type, not so much. Without looking at past seasons scoring totals, there's the possibility in your suggestion of someone in 3rd going into the 'play off' with 2 games to go - but then they end the season with a higher total after 38 games than the person in second after 36, only to lose out on promotion as they lost the play off. I don't think it would be fair in that scenario.

See, this is why you run the show.  So many issues to consider, and group equity as a core value.

How about I just get better at picking Liverpool games, keep my powder dry and the rest will take care of itself  ;)

Going to beat CP by 5-0 with no cards with Gini getting all the goals.  That's the ticket!

I'm only running the show as Rushyman couldn't be arsed doing it anymore  ;D :P

The last few weeks will be interesting. I need to ensure I gain 23 points on Kopite1971 to take my second place trophy again for the third year in a row  ;D

I wish there was a complete history of this competition in RAWK, I would read it --- sounds like you have forgotten more than I know about this year, mate.

Anywho, without knowing Kopite1971 on a personal level (near my age though if the handle is to be taken seriously), I would say its diabolical to deprive you of another 2nd place trophy considering Rushyman cannot be arsed and the number of bloody yanks like meself you have to deal with at all hours of the morning...

Here's a digital pint for you until I get my arse to Anfield :hally :wellin

See, this is why you run the show.

Now listen up, newbies - I run the Premier League and set the rules, including those dealing with relegation and promotion. And, unlike rushy, I have no intention of relinquishing power any time soon. :)

However, despite my dictatorial tendencies, I welcome discussion on any topic, but no rules will ever be changed during the season, not even in September. In any case, I agree with Barney on this, so there will be no playoffs. :)

Old threads are never deleted on RAWK, so you can find pretty much the entire history here, apart from the first couple of seasons which were run on another forum. I think tyler put everything on Google docs a while ago, too, though it probably doesn't include the latest data.

MelwoodBoy needs to be careful, another two missed entries will mean automatic relegation, regardless of league position.

Not since 2011, but quite regularly before that. In 2005, of all years, six people were relegated.

So there is precedence then. I think the wording of the rule should be changed to "10 or more"  :D Currently it just says "more than 10"

Having said that, rules are rules, so Mel would have to miss another three games to be relegated. More bad news for whoever finishes fourth in the Championship. :)
