he was very good...again some mistakes that are perhaps forgiven to VVD are always remembered with Lovren...

he won us all + was a great servant to the team in tranistional period leading to Klopp and even playing for Klopp

For Croatia he almost got to win the world cup as well...

Absolutely a time and place player. Was what we needed when we signed him. Can't be comparing him against players like Virgil as we'd never had got anywhere near that caliber of player back then.

Seemed to suffer massively after an injury layoff, but had a high ceiling when he was fully fit and had a run of games.

Seemed like a great character in the dressing room and leaves a Premier League, Champions League, World Club Cup and Euro Super Cup winner. All the best Dejan!

Quite the opposite. He became part of this family and Klopp saw his importance. A model pro and could be relied upon to give his all. Klopp would have got rid of him earlier if he didn't value him or find him "good enough for this club".

Not true.

Lovern had quality yes he would frustrate even his most ardent supporters on a occasions but whenever he had a run in the side he was generally good. He's main problem would be that he would have a good run in the side then he'd get injured and it would take him some time to get going again once he got back into the side.

But overall he was very successful signing and formed an important part of the four quality central defenders we have had since VVD arrival. He was great around the dressing room also, which is often overlooked by fans as it's not something we generally get to see but is vital for a successful team.

Lovren probably isn’t good enough for THIS Liverpool side, but he held down a position and contributed plenty. We just evolved, but he more than helped along the way.

Apart from losing the ball in the air his ONLY problem was becoming overly embroiled in scraps with the opposition*. His sense of self-esteem was fragile in that he had to prove himself to others in a way that van Dijk never gets drawn into.

I miss the big lunk already, hope he does well from here!

An excellent defender at times to be honest and fucking hell that goal against Dortmund, never ever forget it.

I hope he does well there. Comes across as a very emotional guy but to be honest there's nothing wrong with that despite how things are portrayed

He did have some great games for us, also some abysmal ones. Great goal against Dortmund, one to remember!

He wasn’t that bad. Not good enough to be first choice now but was an able back up. Was very unfairly targeted as a whipping boy by way too many of the fan base.

NGL, I had forgotten just how good that goal against Dortmund was. I wish the man well, but it lately seeing his name on the team sheet made me incredibly nervous.

Correct Dejan always did his best for us and loved the club so I don't know why some people like to have a pop at him.....the very same people who have never played at his level.

One bit of the open letter he sent stood out to me last week:

"The game of football is everything to me and I have tried throughout my tenure at LFC to be the best I can,"

He made mistakes, as all players have done, but more often than not he done his best for us and wasn’t nearly as bad as quite a few made him out to be.

Aside from the gaffs, I think his attitude permeated through the squad. He was a bit arrogant (especially after the World Cup) and I think this had a good effect on the team.

I get that he was a character in the dressing room (and looking at his relationship with Mo) - I think he made a big difference to the atmosphere so when Klopp came along, he was a great fit

Is there any way to watch their games anywhere? I had a look on the Live Soccer TV app and couldn't see anything for Russian games. Might try and catch the odd one sometime to see how he's getting on if so.
