Comparing our situation to last time makes me grin with optimism
Being linked to Klopp and Ancelotti vs Martinez and Rodgers is a great situation to be in.
Let's hope we follow through!

Being linked with people means jack shit though. Every season we start off being linked with the top names and then end up with no marks when the top players stop returning Gerrard's texts. If Ian Ayrehead can't recruit top players then what makes you think he can recruit a top manager.

We will start out looking at Klopp and Ancelotti and the Mike Gormless and Ian Ayrehead will task the transfer committee with finding a manager with a similar record who will only cost a couple of pints and a bag of scratchings.

yes. he is a good manager but in a poor league, theres only 3 good teams there and the football outside them is very poor, div1 level. he has not understanding of English football, like to see his face on a cold morning in a fa cuo tie at East Thurrock or Tilbury town, he will do ok when we play the big names teams but will wonder why the bottom clubs beat us.
I wonder if Messi could do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

Not overly fussed by Ancelotti. Hope it's Klopp.

You're not fussed by a guy with three European Cup wins to his name?

If we had a strong spine of experienced players who are leaders on the pitch and strong mentally then I'd go for Ancelotti. I'd rather have Klopp manage this side and build it to a strong team over the next three years. Anyone hoping for a quick fix are kidding themselves.

Klopp is a character and he would give the place a much needed lift. Ancelotti would also, he'd bring a calmness to things. Two very contrasting personalities but I think we need Klopp's batshit craziness a bit more than Ancelotti's subtle demeanour.

Then again, Ancelotti's subtle demeanour has won him Serie A, the Copa Italia, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Copa Del Rey, Ligue 1, the Super cup, the World club championships, UEFA manager of the year and the erm.........what's it called again?......That thing that Paisely won 3 times?

Oh yeah, the European Cup. Which funnily enough, Ancelotti has also won 3 times.

But fuck it, lets go for the guy whos won a couple of Bundesliga's. :D

Someone who has won stuff please so Ancelotti or Klopp.
This, but just as important, someone who players want to play for. With no Champions League and no oil money, we're not an attraction. Both names you listed are capable of luring in players, in the same way Wenger and Mourinho do for example. It's not a great difference, but we need all the 'pull' we can get and as much as I like Rodgers, his name holds virtually no weight outside of this league.

That poor league is comfortably above england in uefa's rankings for CL places and I doubt you watch much of it if you think most teams are div 1 level.  The idea that it is three good teams is flawed too as there have been multiple challengers to Bayern over the last decade, most just haven't been able to sustain it.

I hope It's Klopp, the man is a proper winner, built Dortmund up from scratch, absolutely huge personality, he would become a talisman here. He would absolutely electrify Anfield, and hopefully the team.

Klopp all the way. Would make much sense to bring him at Anfield.

Make Leverkuesen an offer they can't refuse.

 :wave

No thanks. He has done fuck all yet as a manager. Yes, he has Leverkusen playing some nice football, but it's not as if he's done anything extraordinary with them. And what people don't seem to know is that in his first year with Salzburg they got knocked out in the CL-qualifiers by Düdelingen from Luxembourg. No thanks...

Tony Evans has suddenly changed his tone, saying there's sources at Anfield who say LFC want Klopp. Reckon he's been told something, maybe we were waiting to sack Brendan before making a move, and we've chosen him?

I really hope it is, for some reason I feel like it won't be.
