Though my patience with Rodgers wore thinner than thin I wish him every success in his career. His press conference after the United game made my blood boil and it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, I thought then it was a time for some fresh ideas to take us forward. Despite this I have the utmost respect for him as he delivered a season of football unmatched in my life. A man of class right to the very end and a man who's represented the club with dignity and honour and for that every single fan should hold him in the highest regard. He'll never walk alone

I've got mixed emotions, some of our displays have been unacceptable and I can list many over the years, but it really upset when I got told.
Same here John. I won't forget that 13/14 season for as long as I live but clearly things weren't right lately.

Good luck Brendan, shame it never worked out.  :wave

Indeed and thanks for 13/14. Don't think anyone is actually happy with this news but felt like it was inevitable since the end of last year.

Owners have shown balls having backed him so heavily in the summer to make the call so soon. Just hope they have a big name lined up. If we're starting the search now this could make them look real ameturish.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

Must have their man. How can anyone on here have reservations about Carlo ffs?  imagine what he would have done with a 300 million turnover and 100 million net spend catch a grip he one of the 5 best managers in the world. Not getting excited because it is probably De Boer wouldn't have minded Klopp's maniac passion myself but hey hum

I`m proud that the club gave him a chance to turn it around after what he gave us two years ago. I wish the club did the same with Rafa who also deserved the chance the stir the ship the right way. I hope they do this with every manager from now providing of course they show they`re capable of something special.

I don't think it's much of a chance if it means sacking the manager 8 games in. I'd rather they sacked him in the summer.

Actually, above all, I'd rather FSG sold the club to some rich arabs in general. They've come into football too late and everybody is already on their moneyball approach so they have no comparative advantage.

You could see from the body language on the bench that something was going on. Gary Mac in particular looked at some points in that game like he was in a heated discussion with Brendan, very notable when Lucas came off also. Think he's obviously caretaker till we find someone, that's unless it doesn't stretch beyond the International break.

I'd like to see the owners now wipe the slate clean. Instal their OWN people in the club at a high level and choose the RIGHT manager based on common sense not advice from former players, commercial directors etc who have their own agenda's.....
There is no way a new won't be in place before Spurs away - otherwise FSG have really fucked up

Just think Klopp's spell at Dortmund is more relevant to us than Ancelotti's past success.

I was in the camp that thought it was time for him to go but I wasnt expecting it to happen just yet but FSG clearly have their new man lined up and its a good time to go shopping for a new manager with a few big names available. Still sad to see him go the 13/14 season was the best league football I've witnessed as a (younger)fan. Wish him all the best for the rest of his career.

I want Klopp in now please, I think he'd be perfect for us.

He'll be a success elsewhere, that's for sure.

Hope FSG throw the bath water out and not just the baby.

Who would succeed with such a shite support, genuine fans disenfracnhised.

We won't be a success untill we harness the power of working class Liverpool support, ie safe standing, ticket consessions to get locals in again.

You know something. I've lived and died this club since 1965 and I'm starting to wonder whenther this is the club I've loved all this time or just a business that uses the same piece of land to play football as was once graced by Shankly's chosen. What are the standards that made this the greatest club on earth? And are any of them still a part of the club? Does anyone mean anything any more or are they all just employees of the business? Is there still a soul and a heart beating that makes our club a living entity, worthy of the love we've showered it with? Whether Rafa or Brendan were the answers to all our problems isn't the point. It's that I'd rather have a manager who understood and respected what our club stood for than have some mercenary who maybe would bring slightly greater success but not be a part of the club. If being in the position we are at this stage of the season is enough to get our manager sacked then we might as well call ourselves Stoke or Bournemouth. It's small time and unworthy.

If Rodgers goes there, he's stupid. He could get better offers. And I think he should wait a little, think things though, before he goes back to work. No need to rush.
Spot on. How many managers have they had in recent years? Most go in at a bad time, keep them up, and then have a slow start the next season before being sacked. Rinse and repeat.

He will have a great future as he matures talented Young manager.

Yes firmly believe that and sad that he'll do it somewhere else but after losing the magical attacking part of the game without fixing the defensive it was inevitable.

Thanks for the memories, Brendan. Shame it didn't work out so well in the end, though - but, at least, I'll always have the 13/14 season, heartbreaking ending aside.

Now... I hope FSG get the right man for once. No Rodgers 2.0 please.

Not shocked, nor surprised at all. I knew the draw earlier wouldn't save him.

FSG fucked up and they knew it by keeping him on. Rafa should have been appointed in the summer, and I've no doubts whatsoever that he'd have no problems returning. Oh, and BTW, FSG, fire that other twat Ayres while you're at it.

Agree on all accounts. And what bothers me a lot is people here not recognizing without richer owners we`ll never compete consistently with teams above Klopp/Ancelotti/Guardiola or whomever.

There are still some people who regard 2013/14 as a fluke which had little to do with the manager and was all down to Suarez. We won 11 games in a row ffs.

It was a collective effort that, it was special. It was a team and the manager was part of it, but I'd say it was not all his master plan. I'm sure he was just as surprised as everyone else, as that run unfolded. We should have won the league though, we didn't... we came close but the wrong tactics on the wrong day was are down fall... We could have took just a draw against Chelsea but we were determined to go toe to toe with that nobhead, anyway we'll win it again soon enough.

Thanks Brendan! We played some really good football under you (especially 13-14 season) but never made a mark that is by winning a trophy! Good luck for the future!

As much as this was expected the timing from FSG is a bit of a shock so hopefully they already have a replacement lined up. I don't see the point of sacking Rodgers unless a replacement has been wrapped up. Also the perfect timing to revamp the whole transfer committee. Some absolute shocking transfer decisions over the last couple of summers so hopefully FSG have finally learned their lesson albeit an expensive one.

On a personal level I'm glad for Brendan's sake as the atmosphere with some would only have got worse, and he doesn't deserve that. Thanks for your efforts Brendan and the best of luck in your new job.

As far as FSG are concerned I have no hope whatsoever that they will appoint the right manager, and even if they do by some miracle there is more wrong with this club then just the manager. The whole structure needs changing, but our owners continue on their merry-go-round of appointing new managers, every few years instead of looking closer at home.  ::)
