Most people have a certain world view and are either unprepared to challenge it or lack the critical thinking to look at both sides and understand how the media works. Add to that the increasingly entrenched and divisive nature of politics and the dog whistle politics of the likes of Trump and hey presto here we are. The great irony of course is that people who support Trump tend to buy into the media conspiracy liberal elite narrative which is an actual conspiracy theory spun on social media. What they’re buying into is unsubstantiated crap peddled by non experts to feed a narrative. The worst thing that has happened (and deliberately so) is the concerted effort to undermine experts or people of science, lawyers, at every turn. That way lies real trouble. Same thing happens here. Anyone wanting to actually level up society is a fiscally irresponsible socialist and lawyers and experts are the enemy. Twenty years ago, even as a cynic, I’d have not believed it possible for this kind of narrative to actually take hold in this country and the USA.

To be honest, I have become immune to so many such false positives because they turned out to be massive duds. Democrats, in the last 10 years, have been more noise and less voice. Thats why the Republicans have gotten shit done and/or blocked the democrats from passing any meaningful legislature.

I would rather see some action than be hopeful of "being in for a real treat". Democrats now need less talk and more walk. I dont care what they do. Do it. And then talk about it.

I don’t think it matters if he blows him out the water.

If Trump stokes the fires his core supporters, the ones who would fight, will do so regardless of how big the loss is. For the most part I imagine they’re hoping for a fight regardless, as brain dead as most seem to be.

Not only that but he's also got the backup option of running again in 2024. If he loses, and if he runs again, I don't see how his name wont be on the ballot. So he could be hedging his bets a bit. In some ways, if he loses it suits him better because it gives him more time in the spotlight. It means that if/when he does leave office, he's basically got 4 years to campaign again. And make no bones about it, he'll still get a tonne of airtime and he'll be on every news channel and he'll be even more deranged on Twitter etc. He wont just go away, and that suits him. And soon enough, a couple of years out from the 2024 election, he'll be right where he wants to be.


I really think that he's not bothered about the outcome because he's got plans either way.
