It might be a message to the owners saying the reason we did so shit this season is due to the lack of a proper quality striker. Whether FSG see that as an excuse or a reason remains to be seen.

Yup. If only because while he may have faltered on the pitch, off the pitch, he has been an absolutely thorough professional that has conducted himself admirably. He was also the first person among the Liverpool team to publicly support Luis Suarez. He's a good lad whose game fell to shocking standards but he's a good lad.

That's just not true. Balotelli was the main man at the start once we lost Sturridge, then Lambert had his turn at the end of last year when we were at our worst, then Borini kept getting picked at the start of this year. They've all had their chance, none of them have taken it.
