Basically Surrey have relied for any success they've had over the years on Yorkshiremen. Jim Laker for example.

We shouldn't be greedy though. There's always been an excess of talent in the Broad Acres. Glen Chapple for example - who I believe is the captain of a county called Lancashire.

It's an interesting point though and got me wondering where the hotbeds of local cricket are. Just looking at the Lancs team playing at the moment and weirdly there are 4 towns that provide 2 players apiece in the current set up. All familiar Red Rose production lines:

Blackpool
Bolton
Preston
Port Elizabeth

Aye, but when Michael was first conscious of being "Michael" and responded from his pram with a happy gurgle he was already a Yorkshireman. The first word he learnt after "mummy" and "dada" was "Sheffield".
