Balotelli is apparently starting and Sturridge is on the bench.

Can anyone confirm this?
more chance Gerrard up front than balotelli

Gerrard's played 27 minutes since Feb 10, we know he has lacked sharpness this season as it is.  Would that not be an issue?

I know he's fit, when I say match fit, I mean in regards to that sharpness from playing competitive games

Id have him playing, he has the big game experience and he will be raring to go. Play him in the front 3 and we will be ok. Tough call for Brendan.

Question for everyone - do you start Gerrard?

Not for me. The emotion seemed to cloud him badly against United, he's not had a good season anyway and now the holding role is gone for him I don't think he really fits into to our best 11.

But then you think - this is Gerrard and doubt your whole reasoning. Just by virtue of his history he has to feature at some point but I still don't think I'd start him

Yep, there's an argument for starting him, I just think if we're talking about him playing in a front 3 we'll lack a bit of pace going forward,  on a pitch like Wembley, pace is surely a huge weapon.  Maybe a front 3 of Markovic/Coutinho/Sterling would be better..

He would play in a front three, other options are Markovic and Lallana?

None of them have convinced this season.

Lame. I think we will go with a back four with Skrtel in for Lucas and Can moved into midfield alongside Allen and Henderson. Front 3 Gerrard in for Ibe.

Fuck! We've really had shite luck with injuries recently,  maybe Gerrard will start after all. There are still other options, will depend what formation we're going with

Poor Lucas. Couldn't play at Wembley those three times a couple of years ago, and won't play now. Don't know what that means for our line-up.

If true, Lucas misses Wembley again. Need to get to the final for him as much as Gerrard (and so we can, you know, win the thing).

We could go Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Gerrard, Sterling, Coutinho in a 4-3-3 or revert to a 3-4-3 with Can, Skrtel and Lovren at CB, Markovic and Moreno wingbacks and a midfield and attack of Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Gerrard and Coutinho

Bollocks. Echo is reporting it. Poor Lucas, poor us too because he's a vital member of the side.

Be really interesting to see what the team is. Could be Brendan thinks about moving Can up:

Mignolet

Johnson Skrtel Lovren Moreno

Can Hendo

Gerrard

Markovic Sterling Coutinho

Not sure i fancy that centre back pairing though. Balotelli could start with the injuries, though it'd be a surprise after missing so much action. No Sturridge or Lallana though apparently. No Ibe obviously.

Would like to see something like:

Sterling
Coutinho Gerrard
Moreno Allen Henderson Markovic
Toure/Lovren Skrtel Can
Mignolet

3-4-2-1 with Gerrard in an AM role.  Only question mark for me is Markovic at RWB.

I prefer it this way. Let's not help Timmy tactics. He has a plan and we want to smash it.

"Have we had a tea reading yet?"

Yes, it was a full on innuendo bingo of a reading, plenty of shoving it up someones box if I paraphrase correctly, but that may also have been the previous 25 readings. Imagine if you really could charge £10 for that and manage one every 5 minutes. It would be a good day at the office!.

Challenged for the league with him playing there last season. As long as he's not in a two we should be fine.
