Swearengen should be at #1, for me. A few I haven't seen mentioned but should be up there.

Gaius Baltar (BSG)
Saga Noren (The Bridge)
Brother Justin (Carnivale)

Also, he was only in a handful of episodes but I think Gyp Rosetti was the best character in Boardwalk Empire.

Big mainstream impact, Joey could still be on the list but if there's anyone from Friends it should be one of Ross/Chandler.
Friends was on too early for inclusion, wasn't it?

Matt LeBlanc playing himself in Episodes could have been on the list.

My point is that Joey was crap from 2000 onwards with no depth or believability at all, so it's just as ridiculous and arbitrary an inclusion. If it's for impact with an audience then stick him in between 90 and 100 somewhere.

I second the calls for Swearangen to be high up the list. I also like E. B. Farnum as a character. One of a kind that guy :lmao

What about the old guy with the bicycle bell on his wheelchair from Breaking Bad. Surely one of TV's most memorable characters, or was his part too small?

In a way, he really paved the way for Walter White. He broke ground for characters that had no real excuse for their bad behavior (he was making money for his family, especially his autistic child, but in the end he was an unapologetic opportunist). He cracked bad so Walter could break it  ;)

Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

The one and only positive thing that is happening: this list, and other turds of its ilk, are meant as clickbait. Because Rob was kind enough to post it in here, we aren't giving the clunge merchants any clicks on the actual site.  :thumbup :mooncat :jong

Haha. You're welcome.  I had a feeling it would cause some less than complimentary discussion. :P

Next ten are up on the first page.  This is not going to go down well! :D

26. Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

Remember those white hot rages Seth Bullock used to get into on Deadwood..that's me right now...shouldn't even care...but...but....that's bollocks...he's one of the best characters on tv....ever.

No one had the soliloquies or could have  delivered them better in any of the tv series that are lauded...no one..none.

I love this list, keeps us all guessing  ;D

Arrested Development is a tough one - Lucille is the first one they've included. I'd probably have George Snr and Tobias ahead of her, maybe GOB and Buster too, but it's hard to rate such a great cast in any order.

I'm a big Lucille fan, think she's great so not unhappy to see her so high.. Can't see there being more than 1 AD character in the top 20 though.

Nobody loves Walter W more than me and i wouldn't begrudge him winning but Ian mcShane's performance as Al Swearengen in that episode where he had the stones in his passway was the most engrossing compelling incredible acting I've ever seen. Nobody else has ever come close to that. A 26 ranking for Al is simply ridiculous and makes a mockery of the entire thing.

Carrie Mathieson ahead of Sheldon, Jimmy McNulty and Gob in that group of ten, let alone the previous 80 characters?  Get. To. Fuck.

Edit:  And Ron is 15 places too low as well. :P

I'd rather burn to death than be subjected to an hour watching that Sheldon.

Peggy Olson at 11 has surprised me..

Trying to guess a few of the top 10.

Don Draper
John Locke
Walter White
Omar Little
Marlo Stanfield ... Although I'm half expecting him to be nowhere.
Tyrion Lannister

I know my tired mind is forgetting a blatant few there.

Not seen too many shows but off the top of my head Top 10 post 2000 would probably be:

1.Omar Little, The Wire
2.Walter White, Breaking Bad
3.McNulty, The Wire
4.Bubbles, The Wire
5.Bodie, The Wire
6.Rustin Cohle, True Detective
7.Stringer Bell, The Wire
8.Jesse Pinkman, Breaking Bad
9. Tyrion Lannister, Game of Thrones
10.Dr.House, House

Honourable mention: Clay Davis,Brother Mouzone, Michael , Bunk , Marlo, Prop Joe, Lester Freamon, Daniels, Prez all from The Wire
Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.
