Wait. Gerrard played in a midfield two most of last season! Have i lost a year somewhere? I'm sure last season Gerrard played as a lone deep playmaker sitting between two split centre backs(basically acting as a third centre back). Which year was that?

The only concern for me is how well recovered he is from the Everton. If he is then he'll do a great job with the running of Ibe and Sturridge, and the movement of Coutinho ahead of him. In any case the option is Allen.

He played in a midfield three most of last season, with two runners in front of him - either Coutinho/Allen + Henderson/Lucas (at times). I don't have fond memories of him pairing Henderson in a two - Aston Villa (H) when we couldn't get the ball off a very poor side sticks out like a sore thumb.

Anyway, with that lineup, I expect this to be a bit of a shootout and hopefully we come out on top.

Not sure Gerrard is the better player anymore to be honest. Hopefully he has a great game tonight though.
