Hansen and Beckenbauer is truly epic.

Stephane Guivarch is available though.

Stephane Guivarch is available though.

We had a similar dilemma. When using the Denmark v France game from 1998 to link from Laudrup to Henry we discovered that Bernard Diomede played in that game too. Chakan was very persuasive in making a case for the overhead kicking, non-scoring Liverpool legend but in the end I just about managed to talk him round.

Pretty content so far anyway :)

Managed to get rid of a couple of the less likeable rules too, without doing damage. That Fachetti/Rivellino came together handsomely.

I had it all figured out till the 11th player, 2 options for each position. Selection after selection, all the hard work has been sent down the drain!

We're winging it from pick to pick. It probably shows but it's all part of the fun!

No, think we're just picking 11, you just have a bit of freedom about how you get there.

4 groups, 4 teams in each. 2 teams who progress can take 1 player from each of the eliminated 2 teams from their group.

The player they choose must follow two of the remaining rules from above. If no available player follows any of the rules, you cannot sign a player.

That is what happens with the remaining rules

Facchetti was a 6'3 left back, matching Stam's height. I'm now down to Googling 6'3in footballers, such an awkward height for players who aren't center backs or goal keepers. :D

This is one draft where I could have used another person's help!

The height one was a bastard, managed to get my 2 centrebacks with it though.

Now stuck in the 70/80s and have the goals rule still, with a right back and goalie to get still.  :butt

Yes  :thumbup

What do you think the odds of being able to steal TWO players are?

E.g

11th player (from the draft)
Rule A
12th player - (steal from 3rd Team)
Rule B
13th player (steal from 4th team)

I think that's ridiculously hard to do, stealing from your 11th pick.

An alternative would be for everyone to nominate 2 players that they can change when submitting their final team.

I was just thinking it'd be incredibly hard - the two nominations idea is very good!

(Obviously, everyone will announce these before the Group Stage).

Is it too late to change the rules though... (I guess everyone will be for it tbf).

I'm quite confused by this rule. As I was away the first few days unfortunately I only read the selection thread where nothing was mentioned about this, so I'm even more lost now  :-\

When the group stage finishes, your remaining rules can be used to steal players from the knocked out opponents.

Nicholls has just realised how hard it is to do it, so is considering a change!

I am sure we all agreed that only players who made a contribution to the final were valid (made an appearance, actual minutes).

I am sure we all agreed that only players who made a contribution to the final were valid (made an appearance, actual minutes).

We did:

Couple of questions regarding the rules in order to avoid confusion later on...

Rule 8   - wore the same World cup squad number as your last player
Same number at any World Cup or at the same one?

Rule 2   - won a domestic league with your last player
Any minimum appearance requirement here?

Rule 5   - won a cup final against your last player
Do subs count?

Rule 8: doesn't have to be from the same WC

E.g

Pick 1: Michael Owen - (shirt #18 WC 1998)
Pick 2: Jordi Alba - (shirt #18 WC 2014)

Rule 2: let's say if Wiki says they have won the league, they have. No min. appearances.

Rule 5: Must have played minutes in the final.

Will add these rules to the OP.
